You guys stopped him, right? So by your definition, SC stopped Sammy three straight years. #38 did at least have a win vs Clemson though.

And George had 4 years.
We didn't stop George. We stopped George from scoring.
You didn't stop Sammy. You stopped Sammy from scoring.
It is easier to slowdown a WR than a RB.

Why are you still here a day after your season is over?
Additionally, wouldn't Clemson winning tomorrow night help your transitive-property cause (I've already heard/read several comments regarding 'oh, we beat a team that won a BCS bowl').
Don't you want to x2 that? So you can chest-thump 'we beat two teams that won BCS bowls'.
So - why in the world are there comments like the one above - 'LOLOLOLO RFLMAO OMFG SAMMY CAN'T CATCH LOL RFLMAO OMFG1111!!!!11111!!!'.
What. in. the. h3ll..

You have the same mindset toward Mike Davis. "You won't stop Davis! The Gamecocks are going to kill you!" How many rushing yards did he have? 25?

I'm glad our coaches don't get caught up in the stat line...

like Clemson's do. We tried running Davis and you stopped him by putting 7-8 in the box. We were able to throw at will but when it came time to run clock to win the game we found the best option was to run Shaw so we did it. Rod McDowell should have had 30+ carries against us. Our coaches find what works and use it as often as necessary. Wisconsin's OC outsmarted himself the same way yesterday. Every time that QB dropped back to pass against us, they did us a favor.

Poor coaching ruined the game for Wisconsin. They averaged like 6-7 yards per carry and wanted to pass it? Why? I don't get it.
I know your coaches are smarter than the average fan. I'm just saying that all I heard throughout the whole month of Novemeber is that we would lose because "Mike Davis will NOT be stopped" and you know what? He was stopped. You won the game but we didn't ask about the final outcome. I stated that the best player that you have, that Clemson "could not stop" was actually stopped. And then stopped again. And again.

An 8 man box is nigh impossible to run into regardless of how good an RB is. An unblocked man should make the play nearly every time.
The same poor coaching cost Clemson the game against us as well. Roughly the same YPC for your RB as Wisconsin yet you put the ball in Tajh's hands over and over. Say what you want about turnovers, if you guys ran the ball until we were forced to change our scheme to stop it - the game could have had a different outcome. The run game would have slowed the pass rush as well.

Pass at will was a bad choice of words

We were able to pass when we needed to would have been a better way to say it.
As far as stopping Sammy, we did what we had done the previous two years. We tackled him when he caught the ball- with the exception of the one pass early in the game. Sammy's yards after catch are where he hurts people most and our DBs limited that damage with good tackling.
As far as stopping #10 from getting the ball to #2, that is a valid way of stopping #2 in my book.

What an in-depth analysis there...
Jan 2, 2014, 12:20 PM
|
|
1) slow down a fast WR... 2) keep tight coverage vs a receiver than can catch... 3) hold the team to FG's...
So basically what should be the basics of being a defensive back or on a defense? lol...wow, we're getting somewhere now.

Thanks coach! And Sammy has his back to the LOS every time he runs past it. Which happens a lot.

I think that is basically what Carter was saying, cause the rest was common sense and mumbo jumbo. But , he gave Sammy some serious props too.

Just because we pushed around your OL doesn't mean Davis is a bad RB.
