I know CU has had some great kickers over the years

Nov 27, 2013, 1:46 PM

Igwebuike, Treadwell, etc..

But is Catman the greatest of all time?

It's hard to beat his accuracy the last two years! He's

He very well could be. He most likely record wise will go down as the greatest.

But I think Chris Gardocki is the best kicker we ever had.

He did it all.

Field goals - had a huge leg.

Punting - I think I saw him kick won 90 yards in one home game. That did include the roll though and it was measured from the line of scrimmage so it was probably only credited for about 70 or so.

And his kick offs were always deep.

I think he had the best leg of any kicker we have had considering he did all 3 phases.

True, true. I was thinking of him as a punter but forgot he

kicked as well. Embarrassing considering he's the only one of those I mentioned that I'm old enough to have actually seen in person.

You might be wrong on that longest punt...

Nov 28, 2013, 9:29 AM [ in reply to Re: I know CU has had some great kickers over the years ]

I'm thinking that I watched (long time ago)our punter, Mitch Tyner, launch a perfect spiral for 80 yards in the Valley. Anyone able to confirm this? Happy Thankgivakkah...My turkey is now in the infrared cooker!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Mitch Tyner's punt was vs Texas A&M in 1973

Nov 29, 2013, 4:24 PM

Banks McFadden had held the record for decades and he met Tyner on the field to present the ball to him.

Also forgot

Gordocki(sp) :)
Don't think I'd get it right if u gave me 5 tries

Gardocki

Nov 27, 2013, 2:14 PM

Wasn't he a great punter as well?

Re: Gardocki

Nov 27, 2013, 2:39 PM

He was a great punter, place kicker and kick off guy. Left after 3 years. Best I ever saw

He and Dale Hatcher could kick that ball.

Maybe the best..........anyone but me remember Lon Armstrong

Nov 27, 2013, 7:10 PM

Gardocki was best ever in my mine, but Lon is the 1st I remember.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Gardocki IMO

Nov 27, 2013, 8:12 PM

Bucholz was the worst...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can agree with that...

Nov 28, 2013, 9:04 AM

It was punts. He was a punter in NFL.

1177 career punts in NFL. Never had one blocked.

As long as kicking theme is being kicked around. Y'all know Andy Lee the punter for the 49ers is from right down the road from clemson. I believe he is from Westminster.

A long time ago I thought that it was pretty cool that the 2

best punters in the nation both grew up in SC and competed against each other throughout their life all the way to the NFL...Hatcher and Newsome. Remember?

Yea.....no one was recruiting Newsome until DF told Al Grogh?? spelling.... about him.

Turns out they were both pretty decent.
