Opposing sideline: Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech head Paul Johnson thinks that Thursday night's primetime matchup against No. 8 Clemson will be a test of just how far his team has progressed during the Jackets' three-game winning streak. Full Story »

Beware when the opposing coach compliments your D!

I'd argue that he's right.

This IS the best defense we've had since he's been there.

sure agree!! just more of that "cut blocking" that is designed to take out knees!! should be eliminated!! it is as bad(or worse) than most "chop blocks).the NFL is eliminating these DIRTY PLAYS!! it is past time for the colleges and high schools to do the same

Quit whining.

If its within the rules, it's fair game.

The way to beat cut blocking is to blow them off the line of scrimmage.

This is why I can't stand Paul Johnson: he freely admits his system is a gimmick, denegrates teams that change defensive philosophies based on their opponent, but implements an offense that forces teams to do just that. Not to mention his whole blocking scheme is designed to target the knees of dlinemen. Can't wait for him to be chased out of Atlanta.

Total agreement, I root for GT to lose every game so they finally run him out of town. His gimmick is never going to lead to Championships so GT is dooming themselves to 8-4 or 7-5 because when teams have time to prepare for GT they usually destroy his offense.

It is like us keeping Tommy Bowden around just because he got us to a decent level despite the fact everyone knows he could never win a championship.

If these "cut blocks" are so effective then why aren't we doing it? Why isn't the NFL just falling all over themselves to do cut blocks? Fire off the line of scrimmage, put somebody on their butt and how they block won't matter. Like Alabama would be worried about cut blocks if they played Ga. Tech. They'd smash them in the mouth and run over, around, and through them.
