Front Page Story: Best player in the stadium? Absolutely. In the country? Just maybe

Best player in the stadium? Absolutely. In the country? Just maybe

Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins was making plays all over the field Saturday against Virginia, notching a 96-yard touchdown reception and continuing his assault on the Clemson record book, leading one NFL scout to say Watkins might be the best player in the country. Full Story »

Probably. Not sure how I feel about that, but my best friend

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Your best friend must be GWPTiger because there probably

Nov 5, 2013, 11:01 AM

isn't another Browns fan around.

Yeah, scary to think there's more than one insane

Cleveland fan, but then again, the insane part might explain it.

No, he couldn't care less about Clemson - strictly pro guy

Nov 5, 2013, 11:23 AM [ in reply to Your best friend must be GWPTiger because there probably ]

I've met a few people from Cleveland and they're all pretty close to how he is. I must admit, I have to admire how loyal and optimistic he/they are, after just continuous years of failure. For him, a .500 year is a huge success - a dream, whereas for us, we'd be calling for everyone's head.

Hmm Cleveland Browns fans sound a lot like

OMG, the "coots" thing again. How old, stale, outworn, and outdated. Give it a rest.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, kinda but not really.

Nov 5, 2013, 3:00 PM [ in reply to Hmm Cleveland Browns fans sound a lot like ]

Both root for (historically) bad performing teams but Cleveland fans of all sports will openly admit their team isn't very good and are pretty level headed about where their team stacks up.

Only 2 wideouts have ever won it, and the last was Desmond Howard. They might as well just admit the award is for the best QB or RB

NFL scout

Nov 5, 2013, 11:39 AM

NFL scouts really aren't supposed to talk to the media about things like this, and talking about juniors is a big no no. So out of respect for him actually taking the time to talk to me and share his thoughts, I can't put his name or organization. Getting one of them to even open up was something that doesn't happen often, so I can't throw him under the bus.

lol...Here is a hint. It wasn't Cleveland!! In fact, I have only seen one Browns scout all year, and that was at the Georgia game

Steelers?

Nov 5, 2013, 1:25 PM

Someone with a high pick but not one extremely desperate for a QB. It's not going to be Jax, TB, Minn, etc.

If i were the Giants i would probably try to get Clowney to reestablish the pass rush that my team has been built around a known for over the last decade.

The Steelers have a lot of issues right now (most teams with that high of a draft pick do), including their defense, but they really need some weapons for Ben.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe not. The Steelers will probably go for D. That's
