LSU is not now nor has it ever been called Death Valley except by ESPN when they first aired 30 some years ago. Ask the LSU fans that are older than 50 and they will tell you that. Someone from ESPN mistakenly referred to LSU's Tiger Stadium as Death Valley when ESPN first started out and it sort of took hold and now everybody calls it that. There is not a hill or valley in the entire state of Louisiana and if that's true how can they call that place Death Valley. Baton Rouge is probably below sea level. I think the LSU people called their place Deaf Valley maybe, but it is not now, nor ever been Death Valley. Memorial Stadium in Clemson, SC is the location of a football stadium know as Death Valley and it's where the Clemson Tigers play.
