You have to be in good shape to do "hot" yoga - I do some regular yoga but could not take the hot type - too rigorous for this 68 year old body! Man, I see it becoming part of the regular conditioning program for athletics! Look at how much modern nutrition program is helping! GO TIGERS!

Football is not always how hard you can hit the other guy.
I remember when I was a kid reading about Lynn Swann taking ballet lessons to help him with his game.
Still, it does help to hit the other guy hard.

healthy. Speeds recovery from lifting, hitting, anything that impacts muscle. Heat helps stretch the muscles. Probably added more range of motion to his swing. I bet pga tour pros do the same.

Yoga and Pilates accomplish two main goals: flexibility and strengthening stabilizer muscles (which can go largely untrained with conventional weightlifting). If we instituted more training like this as part of our regular program, you'd see a lot less pulls and tweaks on Saturdays.

Yoga and Pilates should definitely be incorporated into the S&C programs, and not just for skill positions. As an ex OL, being flexible in your hips really helps get lower and maintain great form. I am all for our guys getting in a few yoga classes each week.

I remember a few years ago when it was very common for football players to work with ballet dancers to improve their flexibility.

I sat with Cat Mans parents at the Wake game a couple of years ago. Quality folks. I have been an even bigger fans of his since talking with his mom. She didn't tell me who she was until he nailed a long kick at the end of the game. You better be careful who you criticize during a game.!!!!
