"field" accomplishments of our athletes that we forget to consider their "off-field" actions. Perhaps, we need a lot more before-the-fact considerations, for the winners of such acclaimed awards as the Heisman should set sterling examples on and off field, and that's being said considering we are speaking of 20 and 21-year-olds.
Regardless, there are those of the same age leading our servicemen and women in combat, performing their responsibilities with great honor, dignity and dedication. Thus, I don't buy into the excuses of youth for miscreant behavior of that age group, and I say this without being judgmental toward Johnny Football.
