Transformation
I started this blog over the weekend but never really knew how to frame it. On Monday, I had some meetings and took Ryan to both baseball games then enjoyed a nice dinner at Mac's Drive In with Ryan but I still spent a lot of time thinking about framing this blog. I have ta

Great Topic Mickey. I remember all so well the transformation of Danny to Coach Ford. As soon as William Swinney became head coach I stopped addressing him as Dabo. He is Coach Swinney to me.

If he beats SC this year I will never call him Dabo again!***

Danny Ford....

He earned my respect when he stood up to everybody when he named Homer Jordan the starting QB, which in all actuality Homer was our second black quarterback not the first....He told the Greenville News that Jordan was the Clemson Quarterback until somebody stepped up and took the job away from him. I respected him from that point forward in a different way.

I'm trying to recall any particular resistance that Danny encountered by naming Homer Jordan the starter.

Maybe it happened. I just don't remember it.

As you point out, Willie Jordan broke the color barrier (if one even existed) at QB several years earlier.

Players never should have referred to him as Dabo

I hope this is not true - that they did, or were allowed to. If they did, they should have been reprimanded and that should have changed immediately. Only us fans should be permitted this. Likewise, Coach Ford is a name to be called by players, or by people who don't know him or meet him in person. Otherwise, he's Danny,in discussion groups.

And there's plenty of Tommy as well, but same rules apply.

Anyway, not a bad little topic in the offseason when not much else is happening. Certainly better than hearing about golf tee times and endless numbers and statistics.
