institutions like UVA and UDub but Bama really has no excuse.

In UVA's case, over the the course of 4 years you are going to steadily lose students to academics more rapidly that most. then your classes are going to reflect that number every year.

Bama is in a league of their own however.

What happens to all the players that get cut before the season begins if they can still only have 85 on scholarship?

They're out of luck***

This isn't a very good chart as it doesn't illustrated

based on how many players have been cut from 09-12, it just shows the numbers for 2013, then states these schools are the guiltiest over signers.

Fact is, Clemson has signed only 80 players in four years, Ole Miss 105, but they rank Ole Miss equal to us. It doesn't take into account cuts over the last four years. To get to 85, we have to make one cut in 4 year. For Ole Miss, it will be their 21st cut in four years...

But CBS wouldn't want to put the SEC in a bad light***

NCAA to do something about it or shut up about it (to the CBS writer). I don't think they actually do want to do anything about it because then the sec wouldn't be so mighty. This is CBS' "we care" about the players article for the year. ESPN should have a weaker and even more poorly written one shortly.

it's legal because of loopholes in the rules….

Feb 20, 2013, 10:25 AM

there should be no such thing as greyshirting in the first place. And you shouldn't be able to sign players then come fall time tell them there isn't a spot available for them like Stephanie Spurrier does.

That article is ridiculous. It addresses over-signing while prancing around the real issue. The three programs that signed over 100 players are all SEC programs and that doesn't even account for other that did not make the list. Clemson will carry 86 this year because DRod is payed under the GI bill. Excellent way to spin the fact but even then Alabama ends up under the bus.
