Re: I thought Blanks was moving to safety? yep

Dec 17, 2012, 7:38 PM

Remember the "Willy Korn will play every game" came….

Dec 17, 2012, 7:43 PM

from Willy Korn, it didn't come from any of the coaches.

Did Dabo ever deny saying it?

Dec 18, 2012, 10:30 AM

Korn is a good guy and wanted nothing more to be a Clemson Tiger, and had no reason to lie.

This is the only record I can find of Dabo saying anything about Korn playing, and it's similar, but not exactly the same, as what Korn reports to have been told in one-on-one conversations with him. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4404836&campaign=rss&source=NCFHeadlines

Re: Football Update: Clemson vs LSU depth charts

I am looking at the size of their O-line and the size of our D-line, coupled with the beef in the backfield of their team with the fullback at 280 and running back at 225. Could be another frustrating night of them holding onto the ball all game.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Dline's are normally smaller than Oline's. There Dline is..

Dec 17, 2012, 9:44 PM

smaller than our Oline. We have some good sized Dlineman, they just need to start getting some penetration into the backfield. SCU's Oline is below average, and our Dline got pushed around by them.

O-line/D-line comparison

Dec 18, 2012, 9:06 AM

They out weigh us on the offensive line by a pretty good bit. They are definitely built for a power running game.

Clemson starting O-line: 1750 lbs.
LSU starting O-line: 1825 lbs.

75 lb. LSU advantage

However, our D-line is actually bigger than theirs.

Clemson starting D-line: 1115 lbs.
LSU starting D-line: 1074 lbs.

41 lb. Clemson advantage

The trend continues in the second team.

#2 Clem. O-line: 1680 lbs.
#2 LSU O-line: 1752 lbs.

72 lb. LSU advantage

#2 Clem D-line: 1120 lbs.
#2 LSU D-line: 1066 lbs.

54 lb. Clemson advantage.

I would personally like to see Clemson continue recruiting bigger O-lineman to close this gap. I'm not sure if we intentionally recruit undersized guys to fit our scheme or not.

Defensively we are beginning to out weigh our SEC brethren. Once these guys get some more experience we will be beastly upfront.

How does our 3-4 Dline weigh in? ;)***

Dec 18, 2012, 10:32 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The tackles are around the same size

Dec 18, 2012, 10:35 AM [ in reply to O-line/D-line comparison ]

but our starting ends are bigger, Mostly because Mingo is a Vic Beasley type who is expected to play 3-4 LB at the pro level. I'd also be willing to bet that the 10 pounds Goodman has on Sam Montgomery is part of what makes Goodman so slow.
