Charlie Strong has changed the attitude within that program. Those boys are contenders now.

It is a pretty awesome town. Especially 5th Street, a street that is very simular to downtown Greenville, or Broadway in Nashville.

I'd rather try to get Kentucky. Obviously their fanbase is mostly concerned about bball, but given their location, enrollment, and athletics budget aside from tv money, they have way more room for growth as a football program than Louisville. Not trying to open up the discussion about leverage vs SEC in poaching their conference, because obviously the general perception is that it could never happen, but I think the school would instantly improve their basketball brand, which lets be honest this is the only southern state, charter institution that that would mean something to, and down the road have an opportunity to take their football program to the next level.

We're not getting Kentucky or Vandy. Not happening.
Louisville is BETTER than Maryland. I would love this move.

Re: when has Kentucky ever had a good football program?

agreed, but I think their "potential" is still stronger than Louisville because the fanbase is already there. They just have to give them something to get excited about.
You think if Louisville were in the SEC east that they would have ever had a good season? Im just looking at it long term. Bottom line is there arent any good options at this point, we are choosing from the least bad option in terms of who to add IF we stay in the ACC, which sucks, so theres no great answer period. But if I had my choice, Id choose WVU or Penn State (aint gonna happen.) So with the leftovers I'll go with Kentucky over Louisville, UCONN, or directional U.

Louisville is 11-8 in the UK rivalry since it was renewed in 1994, despite having been independent until 1995, and then in the lowly Conference USA until 2004.
Louisville's football program has been on an upward trajectory for 15 years, while UK's has been stagnant.

to big bucks that they can pour into their basketball program that has about 1 or 2 teams they have to worry about in their conference slate.

Louisville hires good coaches and isn't afraid to spend $
Nov 20, 2012, 11:32 AM

Howard Schenellenberger, John L. Smith (before he went bankrupt), Bobby Petrino (heck of a coach just a bad person), and now Charlie Strong.
They'll replace Strong with a solid coach when he leaves, or pony up some cash from their new ACC deal (still much better than the Big East's)to keep him.

The future of the ACC could be riding on Swofford's decision: A BASKETBALL CONFERENCE: UCONN A FOOTBALL CONFERENCE: LOUISVILLE BOTH:add LOUISVILLE and UCONN plus SOUTH FLORIDA.
