Beasley has found home at defensive end

A year ago, Vic Beasley was moved to defensive end and forced to learn a third new position during his short tenure as a Tiger, but he thinks he has finally found a home. Full Story »

Reminds

Me of a von miller type player.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Me too.

If he can get perfect that Von Miller shoulder drop (I swear it looks like Miller's inside shoulder is only 2 feet off the ground on his speedrush) he could be deadly on passing downs.

I swear I saw some 3-4 under fronts on sat...made me smile...with beasley as the bandit backer....him and steward there would excel

I was wondering if they were going to show that formation

Apr 18, 2012, 3:58 PM

at all this year. Especially with all of the Linebackers they are recruiting! They are setting up for it nicely! We are only hearing about the Pistol for the offense. What about any new formations for the D?

Yea...I wonder if they are trying to keep it under wraps...but we truly are built for a 3-4

We don't have the big nose guard though. Unless perhaps Mr. Carlos Watkins would like to assist with that issue?!

is he big enough to play run D?***

Not yet which is why he won't be an every down DE

Apr 18, 2012, 11:04 AM

we could bring him in for critical downs where we need pressure on the QB. He's burst from the line is very good and though it was a freshmen, Battle, that he blew past, it was still impressive.

Exactly why I see comparisons to Aldon Smith in SF or a Von Miller or someone like that. He may not be on the field every down but you can bring him in on 3rd and long or other passing situations and let him just use his speed and beat slower defensive lineman. In the meantime use Corey Crawford and Mallicah Goodman who have the size to stop the run and just pepper a little Beasley in until he bulks up.

If he gets up to 250-260 (got about 20 pounds to go) he could potentially be an every down defensive end on the weak side.

Or we could run a NASCAR formation similiar to the Giants.

Apr 18, 2012, 3:59 PM

Have Beasley and Crawford on the ends, with Goodman sliding in to 3-technique.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've met and talked with Beasley several times.

Apr 18, 2012, 10:45 AM

I really hope he's found his true calling on the team this time around. He's an extremely humble kid and a very hard worker. And though I'm not even a decade older than him, he constantly used "sir" when we talked. Glad he's a Tiger.

Nothing wrong with the single digit D-Line numbers

Apr 18, 2012, 11:44 AM

I thought it looked pretty good on Ricky Sapp and Jamie Cumbie

#3 is legendary number

My new nickname for Beasley: Earnhardt, because he wears the number three and he's the fastest defensive lineman we have. Thanks, JV!

of course in that era the number denoted your spot in the batting order

LOL, 9-0 in games where Beasley had two tackles??

Apr 18, 2012, 12:58 PM

I guess reserves didn't see any significant action against GT, State, USC, or WVU, imagine that!
