Front Page Story: Venables says tackling is attitude and toughness

Venables says tackling is attitude and toughness

New defensive coordinator Brent Venables was asked about how he plans on making the defense one that tackles better than Clemson’s 2011 version, and toughness and attitude were just part of his response. Full Story »

The more we learn about Venables approach, just goes to show

Mar 13, 2012, 12:32 AM

the so called softness in practice came from Kevin Steele and not Dabo as far as the defense was concerned.

LOL, who the F was the head coach? Sure wasn't Kevin Steele. Captain Goofy-Rant doesn't know a gotdang thing about toughness; he just wants to be best buddies with the players. I bet they all meet at Staypuff Joey's house and have strawberry ice cream while they sing songs and hold hands. Danny Ford had more toughness in his stool.

I'll take it any day over the previous outfit!!!

Dannyfan You don't have a clue, what team do you coach and like I told you before if you are a true Danny fan you should be Dabo's biggest fan also Youve experienced the most winning since hatfields second year and your still calling him a joke. You can't do the things we did back in the 80's to players they Mamma's will get pissed and you will be fired and ranger boy you for one should know what I'm talking about. The payed leaders of a program can only do so much some of the seniors have to step up and lead. And anywhere you listen to coach Ford talk about the ole days he mentions the great leadership that the youngsters put forth he gives all the credit for the NC to the judge!! and so does all the other players. Another thing Dabo never takes credit when we win but takes all the blame when we loose like a true HC and he only called out fans when they were calling out his players and coaches so there! And oh SFU

I like winning ACC Division Titles and Conference Championships. Obviously we're doing something a little better, so pipe down.

Go Tigers!

Steele says he doesn't need to coach tackling at this level.

I thought Thump technique was part of the problem...***

Ding, ding, ding

We have a winner. Realistically, we are all just football fans with perhaps a high school coach or two thrown into the mix. We are not experts on winning college football at the major conference D1 level. We've got to hire the best guy we can and manage him on how he goes about his business. Is he prepared? Does he lead or does he just tell the kids what to do? Lastly, does he produce results on and off the field?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

not exactly singing praise and spewing accolades...

Mar 13, 2012, 6:06 AM

Reminds me of a recent OC we hired here. Love the approach. Make them earn it then praise effort and leadership, not talent.
