"If you have bad technique, you WILL get exposed."

Very good to hear Venables telling that to our players. Looks like he's got plenty of fire in him.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

See a lot of intensity out there!! repeat ACC champs?

Feb 16, 2012, 11:24 AM

c'monnnnn August....

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Love watching Venables

Feb 16, 2012, 11:19 AM

You can feel the passion he feels and I hope the players can tap into that we they play D. Aside form a few players, our D had little fire or passion in their eyes and a passive D is one that gets 70 put on them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We need all of our players to have that Price attitude***

Feb 16, 2012, 12:03 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The D needs to have a Branch/Thompson/Moore attitude

Feb 16, 2012, 12:27 PM

you could always count on those three to bring it during a game with fire and intensity and low and behold they had all of the sacks, give or take a few.

Would have been nice if they'd done that in miami.

Feb 16, 2012, 12:11 PM

You know, instead of jet skiing and playing with their fee ipods.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Would have been nice if they'd done that in miami.

Feb 16, 2012, 12:37 PM

really? Just because you saw videos of them jet skiing for a couple hours doesn't mean they didn't practice. They earned that leisure time by winning an ACC Championship.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Would have been nice if they'd done that in miami.

Feb 16, 2012, 3:57 PM

Earned leisure time and then enjoyed it too much and got 70 hung on them. I am not saying they didn't deserve to have some fun, but too much horsing around and a lot of people that spent a lot of money to see them play got embarrassed along with themselves. Sad to hear reports of them asking the other team to let up. I am tiger through and through, but seeing them play around and then get lit up irks me.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Would have been nice if they'd done that in miami.

Feb 16, 2012, 6:27 PM

There is absolutely no evidence that proves "leisure time" is what made our boys unprepared. I am willing to bet EVERY single bowl team has similar outings to what ours did, including WVU.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I noticed something really interesting in the Venables

Feb 16, 2012, 11:47 AM

portion of the video. A few guys were REALLY, REALLY dialed into what he had to say (Hawkins, Parker, Anthony, Townsend). And a couple of others--especially #34 (and #46 weren't paying any attention. And both of those guys were some of the WORST guys we had at LB last season. Coincidence, or ????

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Screw Calford.

Not true

Feb 16, 2012, 11:52 AM

I did see #34 Christian look a bit bored and he wasn't a big contributer but our best starting LB was #46 Tig Willard as he always gives his all and plays well.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You are correct, I meant #42

Feb 16, 2012, 11:56 AM

Willard was the "best" of the bunch, but that isn't saying much. The point here is that Venables will coach the talent we have UP to where we expected them to be. Venables put it best: You WILL be exposed 100% of the time if you don't play good technique.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Screw Calford.

Yep

Feb 16, 2012, 12:25 PM

That's Hawkins our MLB whom will most likely be losing his job to Anthony next year, hopefully. I like that to me it seems that Venable will put out there the guys who listen and do the right things. Now Hawkins is rarely ever pit of position but he simply doesn't make plays. He got the most snaps out of any LB last year and Anthony had the ONLY 2 sacks from our LB corp and he was out there roughly 1/4 of the time conpared to Hawkins.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Think Venables will play whoever gets the job done.

Feb 16, 2012, 7:16 PM

Period.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Think Venables will play whoever gets the job done.

Feb 16, 2012, 10:27 PM

That's how it should be. I don't care if its Justin Parker, Lateek Townsend, and Spencer Shuey starting (definitely won't be) if they get the job done and can do their job they need to be on the field whether they are 5th year seniors or true freshmen. Clemson is out to win.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why is the team practicing right now?***

Was that Mike Bellamy?

Feb 16, 2012, 1:27 PM

If so, glad to see him back.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Was that Mike Bellamy?

Feb 16, 2012, 1:54 PM

It sure was bellamy. His blocking definitely needs work and he needs to gain a few pounds. I hope he works hard this spring

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I know Tony Steward is hurt, but that would be the reason he

Feb 16, 2012, 1:48 PM

wasn't in the group of linebackers, correct? NOT because the rumors of him wanting to transfer are true, right?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah.....He hasnt had enough time to come back from that....

Feb 16, 2012, 2:24 PM

knee injury yet. Probably wont see anything out of him much in the spring either. I would expect him to get most of his work in during the summer.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Agreed

Feb 16, 2012, 3:20 PM

no way will we be seeing him for a few more months. Second major surgury in as many years. I hop ehe comes back mentally strong as well. That's got to be messing with his mind

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Looks like Davis now 24 and Vic now with LBs***

Feb 16, 2012, 10:03 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Saw that but it's unlikely

Feb 17, 2012, 11:21 AM

Vic is trying to back up Crawford as the Bandit DE. besides he never worked out at LB and with the numbers there, and the young talent, he wouldn't see the field.
