Thanks for the post. I had only heard sketchy details over

a period of time, and the article provided good insight. It's a sad story indeed, and I'll always remember him as being one of Clemson's greatest. It was touching to read of Michael Dean's attempts to help the Fridge...he was, also, one of our best!

That is sad to hear :/***

I'm sure you meant well but it was already posted in the thread

sorry

I'm sorry. I didn't realize it. Being from Aiken, we are all sad that William has had such a tough time. These football players give us so much...but after football...sometimes they have major health issues.

Re: sorry- yep I listen for news from Chicago

Unfortunately, the coach put me against him in drills every day. I would drive him home from practices. We even got in fight once on the practice field. Apparently I was not bright...
My family had always been big Clemson fans and have always had season tickets. So he attended several games at Death Valley with us. He ate all the chicken. At the games, he didn't go unnoticed. The rest is history.
He never had needed to lift weights; so he never did.
He didn't drink in high school and I never knew that side of him.
A few years ago, he moved in with Michael Dean and started getting healthy. Michael Dean and Daryl Perry even controlled his finances; everything.
(Michael Dean is 47, Daryle 48 and William 49. Daryl was a multi-sport star at Gardner Web. Not quite as big then, but an awesome athlete.)
As I understand it, with the divorce of his first wife and after moving out of Michael Dean's house, he went back to drinking.

Not trying to be funny, but my son and his date were...

seated at a table next to Fridge and his nephew at Fatz a few weeks ago.
