What does the OL look like for 2012
Dec 11, 2011, 12:30 PM
|
|
Since we only have one game left,I was pondering about what might be our biggest weakness for 2012,the O-line. What does the OL look like next season,at least starting off.So I thought I'd give it a shot in the dark and get some of your opinions.
LT-Brandon Thomas/Shaq Anthony LG-Kalon Davis/David Beasley C-Dalton Freeman/Ryan Norton RG-Reid Webster/Matt Sanders RT-Gifford Timothy/Joe Gore
what would u list differently? Who stands out, sides Freeman(if he stays)
your take? #21

or we sink back to mediocrity (briefly)..no hater here..we've got great ol talent waiting in the wings..but next year's ol will make or break us..an inexperienced ol usually means your defense gets a lot of pt.

He won't be a great offensive lineman in the NFL.

He'll warm a bench in the NFL = IF he's in the NFL next year.

Hmm...this is going to be the story of the off/preseason. I don't think we'll lose anyone to the NFL early on offense except for Allen. I'd be really surprised if Ellington or Freeman went pro.
I think the line-up you have is probably how we'll open the spring; I can't think of anyone else to throw in there. May see Matt Sanders open as 1st team RG just due to seniority. I think Jay Guillermo is going to make some noise though as a guard.

It looks like they are recruiting OL heavily this year, but hopefully we are getting the program to the level of being able to rely on our Juniors & Seniors. (with a few underclassmen that emerge)

the thing is,he has been in the system for a year and is still listed at 370,if he can play this system at,say,350 he'd be a monster in short yardage.

I like shaq anthony. He might be what saves this OL. I read an article saying he was up to 320 now instead of when we recruited him at 265 and is starting for this prep school at LT.
Freeman should stay.

#54 matt sanders is a rising senior...hoping he's got the talent to step up and be a starter and a leader especially if freeman goes.

Sanders has been alil' in the doghouse with the coaching staff. So like Thomas, he'll have to work his way out. I see Timothy and Davis as rising stars on the OL.
Like I stated,I think the OL (unforunately) seems to be the biggest weakness for the 2012 team, ya agree? Makes ya wonder how effective the offense is going be coming out-of the gate.
