Bowers' drop into second round could cost millions

The first round of the 2011 NFL draft was held Thursday night, and concerns over his injured right knee dropped Da'Quan Bowers completely out of the first round. Full Story »

Darn. He may have to work like the rest of us.

just curious, how is your knee?

Apr 29, 2011, 6:58 AM [ in reply to Darn. He may have to work like the rest of us. ]

He paid, just not with cash. He paid for his time with CU with sweat equity. While doing so, he also helped CU win games and was the dominant force on your defense.

I think CU got the better deal with him.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wow I hope he find you and makes you pay.

I do not think you understand my post

Apr 29, 2011, 8:47 AM [ in reply to Wow I hope he find you and makes you pay. ]

Someone commented that he did not have to pay to go to school. All I said is that he actually paid a heavy price. All athletes do, and he did more so because he injured his knee.

Basically I said he was worth a whole lot more than the value of his scholarship to CU. If that point was not clear, I think you were trying to read something into the post because I am a Gamecock fan.

Please tell me you're a gamecock trolling the boards. It hurts me to think that someone claiming to represent the same institution as the rest of us could have such a horribly skewed view of this situation. Rather than filling a whole page with vitriol about this post I'm going to assume it was merely a bad attempt at being funny. Have a nice day and please try to refrain from making the rest of us look like a bunch of ingrates..

Thank you Bowers for the three years and we wish you all the best.

Please ban this idiot Allorangeallthetime. There is no place for these type of comments. What an ignorant a-hole!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What he said was pretty funny. I feel bad for Quan not

Apr 29, 2011, 2:43 PM

getting the big big bucks, but he will still make a lot more money than I ever will, and he got to play college ball at CU. So, I can't be too upset for him.

Some people are making it sound like his life is over because he didn't get picked first round. Not the case.

FAT TAX NOW!

These headlines are terrible.

Apr 29, 2011, 8:36 AM

There's no way I would pay millions to play in the NFL.

Jebus. When DQB's knee problem started going south, I prayed that he hadn't hired an agent. Obviously too late now but he had 2 conflicting precedents in front of him: CJ staying was monster and McDaniel staying may've cost him. Let's hope he signs the shortest contract possible and plays his way into being a multimillionaire.

Let's hope the Bills offense gets it in gear and shows how good CJ can be. Apologies for the digression.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I was shocked to see 8 DEs picked ahead of Bowers. Why?

Apr 29, 2011, 1:08 PM

Is it all because of his knee?

40-yard dash times too slow?

Did the lack of NFL production from previously drafted Clemson DEs have anything to do with it?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I just read that his knee is bone-on-bone. Didn't realize.***

Apr 29, 2011, 1:32 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think many understood the severity, but there's

Apr 29, 2011, 2:49 PM

Obviously something bad wrong that the doctors know and we don't for him to slide the way he did. Hopefully he still gets picked up and does well. If not, come on back and finish the degree and go make the best of it. He'll always have the college stats and will hold a special place in the heart of many Tiger fans. Good luck tonight Quan.

Razz, that is a false rumor and a big reason why he slipped.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

NFL teams rely on doctors's evaluations, not rumors.

Apr 29, 2011, 5:43 PM

I'm sure that they've examined his MRIs.

I'm sure there is no bone to bone contact. You have bad info.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What if he goes undrafted?

Apr 29, 2011, 6:51 PM

Is it possible he could come back to school for his final year of eligibility if he goes undrafted? Or does it mean he will need surgery which would require a lengthy rehab?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: What if he goes undrafted?

Apr 29, 2011, 6:52 PM

Already hired an agent, point of no return.
