Leggett calls Ray Tanner to clear the air, put "incident" in the past

Clemson head coach Jack Leggett said he woke up on Wednesday morning and read South Carolina head coach Ray Tanner's postgame tirade in the paper, and knew he needed to call Tanner and clear the air. Full Story »

woulda been better if they would have stayed mad. We needed a bench clearing brawl last night to heat things up a bit.

they both are great ambassadors for their schools. They run clean programs and earn the respect from all their players, fans, and opponents.

So are the charity events the best characterization of Tanner,... or is the public whining to the media what he's all about?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What a bunch of sissy grown men! Screw Tanner if he's got a problem.

with checking on the equiptment, don't be his biotch Jack, hes a grown man crying about stupid stuff to a newspaper. Sounds like a wussy move to me.....

Whoever you are you have no class and obviously are a frustrated wannabe. Like others with functioning minds who have "been there, done that" I feel sorry for you. Maybe someday you will grow up and hopefully mature. Meanwhile maybe you can observe and learn from the more mature folks.

Re: This team has ZERO room to talk...

Wow. I'm surprised you had enough time to get off your high horse to post something on tigernet. And for someone who wants a name associated with every post so no one 'hides' behind their keyboard, your profile is sure empty.

Perhaps you should practice what your preach instead of being a first class hypocrite.

'Never had time to get on a high horse so I'll let that to the insecure people. As an 85 yr old who has "been there, done that" and like a lot of my generation I really don't give a crap is you are so sensitive as to be offended. I'm a Penn State guy and a Clemson fan because I still work with them professionally and because my deceased Grandson graduated from Clemson. FYI you can check now out my profile.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention I know all of the Coaches personally and am somewhat sensitive when they are unjustly criticized so let's be the gentleman we are and let it go at that, OK??

shouldn't have. Certainly not the first time it has happened and won't be the last. They should be confident, just need to watch what they say and who they say it to. I think it was all blown out of proportion. But Jack did the right thing by calling.

Re: That is the reason Dabo should put them off limits to

Mar 9, 2011, 5:28 PM

Amen!!! That is exactly what this is all about. Media boosting it up sells better. Just like in Jacks interview, they were trying to trick him (Jack) into saying things that he wouldn't have meant. Ole Jack was just to smart for them. All schools should keep the media at a far distance. Less problems, even less BS!!! Good job Jack, class over comes thuggery every time.

Probably not; which may help to explain why Jack Leggett is making big bucks coaching Clemson baseball and you're logging meaningless posts on this website...."Hello?"

Tanner also did his share of apologizing for things he had said. Two grown men desiding to act like grown men. Some times that is very hard to do while in a ticked off state of mind....

Re: Leggett calls Ray Tanner to clear the air, put "incident" in the past

Mar 9, 2011, 4:45 PM

I must say it was a classy move by Jack. Going on the info given him by the catcher he was in his right to have the bat checked. The Ump. should have been informed and checked it in imo but its over now and lets get on with the season.

That was a great series that could have gone either way. Good luck with the ACC this year and and looking forward to a rematch in the CWS.

Re: Leggett calls Ray Tanner to clear the air, put "incident" in the past

Mar 9, 2011, 4:56 PM

7 minutes plenty of time for bat to cool, sometimes youre right, sometimes youre wrong, seems to me that a catcher would know before anyone if he picked the bat up, I was always taught IF YOU DONT ASK, YOU DONT KNOW, if a coach doesnt stand behind his players he starts to look like THE OL ball coAch. I wouldnt care whether tanner liked it or not.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Leggett calls Ray Tanner to clear the air, put "incident" in the past

Mar 9, 2011, 5:41 PM

i agree. this whole thing is so ridiculous..our player thought the bat was hot, so he said something.. the ump could feel the bat also if it was hot..i for one am so glad we have the chickens out of the way and can concentrate on what really matters now, conference title and back to omaha... i wish we played USUC early in football as well to get that game out of the way to go foward with the games that really matter..conference games, conference championships and bowls games...We lead the series against USUC in almost every sport.. that is not gonna change...Leggett is class...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Leggett calls Ray Tanner to clear the air, put "incident" in the past

Mar 9, 2011, 5:56 PM

Coot don't count any history unless they were the victors. They prove that every single day when they say that was in the past. And out the other side of their mouth, we beat you in FB or BB last year. Only when history favors them, do they want to hear it. When we win, its in the past....

whats funny about half of these posts is the number of gamecock fans that come to this website to read Clemson related stuff. Then call themselves clemson related names and make comments. Guess their website sucks that bad.
