Trevor Lawrence- My Take

Jan 29, 2017, 9:05 PM

GT Fan here. Just dropped by to give you guys my take on Trevor Lawrence. I have watched many moons of Georgia HS football. Have seen the greats like DW4, Eric Zeire, Shawn Jones, Charlie Ward and many others play in HS. I predicted DW4 would be the best QB Clemson ever had & I was right. I am now predicting this. Lawrence will be the best PASSING QB who has ever played for the Tigers. He is not the runner DW4 is, but is a fluid athlete and can run. I don't think this kid will have to run because he is just too good of a passer. His mechanics are almost flawless right now. He can roll either side and throw 40 yard frozen ropes. In short, he is by FAR the best passing HS QB I have ever seen at the HS level. I also believe he is better right now than 70% of the QBs playing at the collegiate level. Yes, he is that good. Great size & great feet. Comfortable rolling out or standing in the pocket. Can take a lick. Can make all the throws; deep outs and touch passes over LBs. This guy will keep your program in the top 2 all his years if you keep him healthy. Man, you guys will just keep rolling with Trevor. On top of all this, he is a great kid from a great family. Just so glad he didn't go to the Dawgs ( no pun intended).

Looking forward to him racking up numbers and collecting trophies. He's going to have some nice weapons at his disposal with guys like Higgins, Rodgers, Kendrick, and Muhammad, among others.

what about his mental strength?

Jan 29, 2017, 9:13 PM

I think DW4's best attribute is his ability to stay focused on next play regardless of the situation. How is Lawrence in that respect I wonder?

No problem there. Appears to be very well schooled in how to attack a defense. I've seen him personally in two state championship games & have just been amazed at all facets of his game. I don't think you can rattle this kid. He looks like a pretty boy, but he is really tough. I have seen him take some real shots & they did not seem to affect him. This kid really is the complete package.

Add to that DW4's ability to read defenses, and what they are giving him. It's like he usually stayed 1-2 steps ahead of the D, and skewered them. I hope TL can do something similar. It's just a hard task. I know the NFL sees that in DW4.

I hope he stays committed to us***

Thanks for the insight dawgbasher.

Hope we continue to get those Georgia boys, especially at QB. Both of our national championships came with Georgia boys at QB - 1981 with Homer Jordan from Athens (gotta love that he came from the dawgs hometown) and 2016 with Deshaun Watson from Gainesville.

Also congratulations on winning the SEC East.

You just got me thinking. Here are the native Georgia boys I can recall who have won Nattys. If I have missed someone, please add.
- DW4, Clemson
- Homer Jordan, Clemson
- Shawn Jones, Georgia Tech
- Charlie Ward, FSU
- Buck Belue, Georgia

That info was awesome and you are also a breath of fresh air.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I didn't see you say anything about SEC speed...

Jan 30, 2017, 1:36 AM

is that important?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would you want him to slow down?

Jan 30, 2017, 1:17 PM

What we're looking for is Clemson speed.

And spend money on facilities so that you will become competitive nationally .. We need Tech to step it up big time and your are falling behind. We need a strong ACC and not just just two or three teams.
Good luck to the jackets unless you playing us.

Go tigers
