Had some people ask why XT didn't play in the game yesterday. I finally talked to him and he said there was no way his agent was going to let him play after the week he had. He said he won every rep and dominated every team period. The scouts left after the last practice so there was no sense in risking injury for no reason.

I doubt that he'll do well in the draft because of all the injuries he has had. I hope I'm wrong and some team takes a chance on him.

Do you also know why Tyler Davis didn’t play in the senior bowl today?

Thanks, David. Awesome to hear on XT and his stock being up. This guy is pure Clemson man, and I admire his grit and determination to keep fighting and improving his craft.
So many players at other schools would have given up or transferred, but he stayed the course and I pray it pays off for him in the draft and know it will in his life-he's earned it.
Let's Go XT! Proud of you brother!!

I'm sure that a lot of his injuries have come from him giving everything his body has to give on every play. I think that he should learn when to give everything he has to give and when to back off. We are human, and as humans our bodies will fail us when we push them harder than they can withstand, and I think that happens with most FB players that has that fiery will to push themselves harder than their body was meant to go, and something breaks down. Even the hardest steal will break when it's stressed just a hair too much, and it happens all the time just like it does with the human body. It's all about learning to control what it's capable of doing without injuring or breaking it down...
Another thing is those types of guys that is so competitive, they will rush back after an injury when what they injured wasn't completely healed making reoccurrence of that injury more likely to show back up, and I think that is what was happening with XT, and others that has that same fire when competing on a FB field... Most folks that love watching FB, they don't really understand what it takes for those players to play as many downs they play in a game pushing their body to the breaking point on every down...

Xavier Thomas-Role Model

When players today jump ship for any reason, XT is different. When he got injured, Clemson stuck with him. When he didn’t perform, Clemson stuck with him. When he wondered if he would ever play again, Clemson stuck with him.
High school superstars, remember this—when you stop performing at most places, the school moves on to a portal player. When you get hurt, they move on without you.
Clemson is different. Troubles will come your way. When they do, Clemson will help you through them.
Way to go, XT! I went to honor you at the E-W game. I’m happy you didn’t have to play. You still deserved our honor.

Good reasoning. I'm pulling for him--no one has been more loyal to Clemson than XT.

I mean. I sort of get it. But for a kid that’s been injury prone, go play and show you can outside of practice. Glad you crushed practice. But Show it where it matters. He’s a late round pick either way so the injury risk isn’t very legit imo.
If I was a scout, I’d be troubled by all the kids not going to play bc they may get hurt attitude. So if the other team is horrible will you not play? What’s the cutoff from where it’s important and must play va not?
Either way, he’s a talent and rooting for him.
