#4 as worn by Fuller was retired prior to DeShaun, but Fuller gave permission for DeShaun to wear the #... So, the #4 automatically goes back into retirement under Fuller now that DW4 collegiate career is over.

DW4's jersey will be retired, so #4 will actually be recognized as retired for both players when it it is all said and done...

grandson (potential 5 star recruit), who will be the number one qb recruit insists on #4 if he comes to Clemson. Will try to talk him out of it but I will probably be in a better place (I hope) by then.

You could eventually run out of position #s or really limit what’s available. Only jerseys should be retired or hung somewhere. The only way you should retire a # is perhaps with an expiration possibly x years or at max the death of the player

I hate it when sports teams retire numbers, especially college programs. It would suck to lose a recruit simply because the number he wants is unavailable. With kids the way they are these days that could very well happen.
