Player you didn't fully appreciate until they were gone?

Jun 18, 2019, 3:07 PM

Who's a few of those in Clemson history?
Maybe a player who was taken for granted while here but once he left, his absence was felt much more than you thought. A player you didn't realize was so important at the time.

I'm thinking these answers might go further back because I think we've done a good job recently of appreciating each piece needed for a title, but then again there are still probably some still overlooked now.

Let's get this discussion going.

Bradley Pinion

Jun 18, 2019, 3:09 PM

That's it. That's the list.

If he stays his senior year we may have won the Natty in 2015.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

No question we are back 2 back champs.

Jun 18, 2019, 3:22 PM [ in reply to Re: Bradley Pinion ]

Adam Choice patiently played his role in the RB rotation at Clemson. Unlike Shaq. Hey Shaq, this seems to have to have worked worked out okay for Choice----he's now with the Dallas Cowboys. (Glad to hear that Shaq is sweeping up the locker room at Maryland. This is likely training he will need for his future.)

Shaq Smith has his own life and own choices man .
You ever make any decisions in your life you regret ?
We don't know what his future holds and I think it's wisest to save public judgement on it quite frankly .
He gave quite a lot to Clemson University . Wish him well and move on .

Re: Bradley Pinion

Exactly. Wish the kid the best... He went out on good terms, he wasn't exactly a player that showed yet is completely detrimental to the team's ability to success that anyone had seen in his years here (did some backup, but everything for 2019 was just a promise...a potential... Not a proven). He's going to play for his old high school coach, for a team that left the ACC...one that is hardly even close to being a rival or any threat. Let it go. Hopefully playing for his old coach brings the best out of him.... Playing for one of the best defensive coordinators in the country didn't, so what's he got to lose? Good luck, Shaq.

If you were you'd know that Adam is with Seattle NOT Dallas...

I was going to say Catanzaro

I couldn’t agree more with that choice. Pass blocking too. Not having him in 2017 was a big loss for the run and pass game.

Re: time'll tell a little....

Jun 18, 2019, 3:20 PM

but I say Renfrow already.

He surpassed Grisham and Humphries for the #13 throne. Amari being out some, and questionable depth at slot (experience wise anyway - I hope TJ Chase shows out).

That has been an important spot in recent years. I am sure CDS has his plans. Renfrow just did it well at slot.

We'll see

For me personally, Michael Palmer and Dwayne Allen

Jun 18, 2019, 3:47 PM

I kind of thought these guys would be the first two of a long succession of great pass-catching tight ends for Clemson. But IMO, we haven't had a TE that's as much of a pass threat since these guys. I think I got a little spoiled by their ability and took it for granted.

4. Spencer Shuey..... Took watching the hurting buckaroo moment to really realize what he could bring to the table, stayed under the radar to me most of the time.
3. Bradley Pinion.... No explanation needed.
2.. Wayne Gallman.... Wasn't under the radar to me running wise, but man... That pass blocking. Wish we had that back fully.
1. DeAndre Hopkins... Guess some of that was the hype surrounding Sammy Watkins and what he did, but that man could catch nearly anything thrown his way. 4th and 16 will live on forever.
