Parking at Georgia Tech

Just bought tickets for the Tigers' game at Georgia Tech. Were driving from Virginia for the game. Any suggestions on where to park for a game at Bobby Dodd Stadium?

If it were me, I would park at the lindbergh Marta station and take the train to North Ave station then follow the crowd. The Lindbergh Marta station is easy to get to from I85.

Depends what’s more important to you safety? Money? Safety for your car? Walk to the stadium without going thru the hood? Marta is ok but what I like to do is park at an apartment complex on the other side of 85 and walk over thru the varsity. For I think 20$ you can park on the north end of the varsity parking lot. Good news lots of spots, bad news lots of criminals.

You are doing it wrong...

I park near the varsity and walk through, BUT...
When the thugs show up to rob me, I turn the tables on them and rob them... they hate it when that happens.... it does take forethought and malice though to pull it off.
It pays for all my costs! ??

Are you staying in Atl after the game?
If so, I’d suggest find a hotel near a MARTA station. Taking MARTA to a game was my preference the 30 years I lived there.
Also, coming from the north suburbs (down I-85, which I think you’ll be doing likewise, coming from VA), I liked using the Doraville Station. It’s right at the perimeter where I-85/I-285 meet (Spaghetti Junction), so saves you from driving inside the perimeter. Lots of (free)parking and a covered parking garage.
One catch - the train ‘back’ after the game can be tricky - there’s two routes/lines. One goes to Doraville and the other goes to the North Station, so make sure you get on the ‘Doraville’ line!
As previously mentioned, Lindbergh works, too, I just found there to be less parking.
Safe travels and good luck!
And GO TIGERS!!!

parking isn't an issue close to the stadium

Been there many times and you can park close to the basketball arena or even closer. It's really never been an issue as long as you get there an hour and a half before the game

Awesome … thanks so much for the responses … we're staying at a hotel off I-85 -- Suwanee exit, I think -- both Friday night and Saturday night … sounds like if we get to the stadium area plenty early Saturday, say 2-plus hours before game time, we'll be able to find parking semi near the stadium without buying any sort of parking pass in advance … anyone think that's a bad idea/plan?

And all these comments are very good. Just don’t park on the west side of GT as the crime is more predominate in this area.

As with any large event in Atlanta, you'll be exiting with thousands of other fans. If you can park within half a mile you should be ok, especially if it is an afternoon game. If you opt to drive to a night game you should look for an attended lot, especially if you tend to leave things like laptops (or certain tailgating beverages) visible inside your vehicle.

If you're planning to drive into the city and park near BD Stadium, plenty of Clemson folks will be across 75 in the lots next to the Varsity. There's also a parking garage a block south of the Varsity called Midtown Lanier Parking if you want to save a few bucks.
