Sunday update: Swinney says turnovers and defense will decide ACC Championship

Two of college football’s best – and hottest – offenses will be on display Saturday night in Charlotte, but Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said Sunday that this week’s ACC Championship Game will be decided by defense and turnovers.

Venables looking for sixty minutes from defense

Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables liked what we saw from his unit in the first half Saturday against South Carolina. The third quarter? Not so much.

Elliott: Offense was good, but turnovers have to stop

Clemson’s offense was dynamic when it wasn’t turning the ball over. Unfortunately, the Tigers turned it over three times and even though South Carolina scored just eight points off of those turnovers, each one stalled a drive and gave South Carolina momentum. And hope.

Quotable: Clemson, South Carolina coaches and players talk Clemson win
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and players and South Carolina interim head coach Shawn Elliott talk about the Tigers’ win.

Superman states his Heisman case on the field in rivalry win
Every player, coach and spectator took notice of Deshaun Watson Saturday afternoon as he put on a performance for the ages, but Clemson’s sophomore quarterback is more focused on his team’s goals rather than personal accolades.

Watson paints Columbia orange as Tigers go to 12-0 with win over Gamecocks
Clemson had Deshaun Watson and South Carolina didn’t. End of story, end of game. Top-ranked Clemson’s talented sophomore quarterback had another stellar effort and led a crucial fourth quarter scoring drive in Clemson’s 37-32 victory over South Carolina Saturday afternoon at Williams-Brice Stadium, helping ease the sting of three more turnovers that almost doomed the effort.

Instant Analysis: No. 1 Clemson 37, South Carolina 32
Have yourself a day Deshaun Watson. Watson led Clemson to a 37-32 victory over archrival South Carolina. Top-ranked Clemson finishes the regular season 12-0, while the Gamecocks drop to 3-9 on the season.
