Trevor Lawrence named No. 1 NFL prospect among bowl team QBs
ESPN partnered with Pro Football Focus this week to take a closer look at the college quarterbacks who led their teams into the postseason this season.
Clemson's Trevor Lawrence, who the site already tabbed as the ACC Player of the Year, regards Lawrence as the top pro QB prospect of any team in the bowls ($):
"(Lawrence is) the next big thing at the quarterback position, Lawrence has transformed the Clemson passing attack with his strong arm and impressive decision-making. He has the nation's lowest percentage of turnover-worthy plays at 1.2 percent, an incredible number for a true freshman, especially given his ability to stretch the field with his big arm. Lawrence will be eligible for the 2021 draft."
Notable other rankings include Oklahoma Heisman winner Kyler Murray at No. 4, Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa at No. 7, Notre Dame's Ian Book at No. 11 and South Carolina's Jake Bentley at No. 31.
Lawrence has swept ACC freshman of the year honors and also made several freshman All-American lists with a 154.02 QB rating, 24 TDs to 4 INTs and 2,606 yards passing. He also has 144 rushing yards and another score there.
The freshman has been cool under pressure especially. In situations with the score within a touchdown, the Cartersville, Georgia native has completed 68 percent of his throws at 8.2 yards per attempt with 10 touchdowns to zero interceptions. With the score within 14 points, Lawrence has 15 touchdowns to zero interceptions.
