Bracket Watch: Clemson's latest NCAA Tournament projections |
Knocking off No. 19 UNC on Tuesday strengthened Clemson’s already solid bid at a top-four seed in the NCAA Tournament.
The victory added a sixth win over a team ranked in the top-35 in KenPom’s efficiency rankings - a second over a team in the top-15 (UNC - 13; Ohio State - 15). The Tigers now average a top-15 ranking in the metrics average the NCAA Committee uses (14.2). RPI is where Clemson performs best of those stats, holding steady at No. 5. CBS Sports bracketologist Jerry Palm has Clemson as a 2-seed in his latest projection, placing the Tigers in the East with a projected No. 1 overall seed in Villanova. ESPN’s Joe Lunardi projects Clemson as a 3-seed in the West Region, where a spot in the Final Four will be on the line at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. Clemson has never been seeded higher than fourth in the NCAA Tournament. Brad Brownell’s group will look to grab a seventh win away from Littlejohn at Wake Forest (KenPom - 89; 9-13, 2-8 ACC) on Saturday (2 p.m./RSN).
