Miami beat Louisville. Now, Clemson knows all they have to do is beat Miami to win their pool. So, they can throw their ace against Miami. Doesn't matter if Miami is their first or second opponent. (In this case it is the first, but that is irrelevant. If they played Louisville first they could save their ace for Miami.)

Miami saved their ace for us so thats a wash.

However, people get so wound up about this tourney every year and make it like we are at a disadvantage somehow to all other teams. The tourney is basically a single elimination tournament with a bonus to the top team in each pool that they have a 50/50 shot of getting through even with losing a game. +they sometimes have a 1 vs 2 pitching advantage. Tourney should always just be viewed as single elimination all the way through, not just starting with the semi’s.

Our Friday starter took the mound last Thursday and that's probably the route to take this week with another Thursday start ahead. Save Knaak for the weekend and choose starts then based on likely opponents.

Knaak is our Ace, but also our Stopper. I wouldn't think to lead off a tourney with that role.
