Homeowners Association......uggggh

So I have some deadazz plants in the front yard. i want to dig them up, and replant azaleas. But wife, who missed a great chance to be a Boy Scout, insists on doing it "the right way" and submitting a landscape plan to the HOA to dig up the deadazz bushes (they've NEVER griped about), and to replant azaleas.

So i do it. I look up the lot number, as I have no clue. Fill out the form. Tell them the gallon-size i want to plant, the number/color, then have to look up a plat/blueprint to show exactly where they will be planted. Email all of this in.

Get an email today informing me I failed to pay the $20 FEE TO ASK THEM TO PLANT PRETTY ####ing bushes in front of my house to replace the ugly dead ones.

I'm not mad at the HOA here. Just keep that in mind. I'm TRYING to get mad at the HOA, but if I did this there would be no problem. I'm TRYING to divert my anger away from the proper source to an external source, and I'm just having difficulty doing this. I'm NOT re-landscaping the whole yard, or building a workshop, pool, or anything else.

Ah HOA's. Gotta love em. Just about every town, city, municipality, county requires you to submit plans. There are certain requirements in those plans like roads and sidewalks, storm water control, water, sewer, etc. Here's the good part. The governing body says you have to have sidewalks. DOT says the sidewalks have to be outside the right-of-way because they are not going to maintain them. The city says they are not going to maintain them either and as a stipulation of approval, an HOA must be established to handle, take of, maintain everything that nobody else wants to, but requires it to be there.

Depending on where you live they can be good or a pain. I got a notice that my trash can and recycle can were visible from the street and could be fined $50 if I did not store them according to ordinance.
I just forgot to put them away after trash pick-up day. A friend had some out of town guests that drove an RV. It was there 2 days and he got a notice saying that you're not allowed to park an RV in your driveway.

HOA = Bored A$$ people with nothing to do and all day to do it.
