Wow! Big XII and SEC shakes the Southland for years to come!

May 18, 2012, 2:14 PM

I do not think anyone saw this one coming. The one question that was not asked of the commissioner was "what does this conference arrangement mean for expansion in both conferences?" How long have these talks been going on and what are the long range plans for the SEC and Big XII? I see a plethora of new questions arising and I believe that BOTH conferences are in cahoots about expansion and what teams are selected and to what conference they will go to. Things are not as linear and as simple as most people think.
I also have confidence that the Clemson administration is aggressively as possible involving themselves in these discussions as much as legally possible. They are not sitting on a log waiting to see what happens.

FSU/Clemson, the Big XII, and the Sugar knew it was coming***

If the Big 12 and SEC and working together on expansion it makes sense they're going to push Clemson, FSU, GT, & Mimai to the Big 12 and VT & NC State to the SEC. The SEC doesn't want programs in the same state as existing SEC programs, and they want new states to add to the final 16-team footprint.
