Would Williams have been hurt if we had a normal goalpost?

Sep 6, 2015, 8:15 PM

Instead of those stupid paranoid automatic ones that are like 5 times bigger than a regular goalpost and with less padding?

Would not have mattered whether tound or square... Part of football...

or smaller?

Sep 6, 2015, 8:21 PM

he could have missed it and been a less solid blow.

Just a roll of the dice whether injury takes place or not; however, if the older versions are smaller in size, then risk of coming in contact with it is probably somewhat less.

Less rigidity would have helped, so yes, smaller cross-section would be better with that respect. Round might help deflect impact in a different direction instead of bringing everything to a sudden stop. It's that sudden stop that gets you.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it really is unfortunate

Sep 8, 2015, 10:51 AM

that our paranoid security may have cost us out best receiver for the year and hurt him badly

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't think that there's any question that's the case.

Sep 8, 2015, 2:04 PM

Chalk this one up to whoever couldn't stand the d@mn kids on his lawn tearing up his goalpost once every 20 years or so.

if it was smaller, it might have created more of a problem. he could have hit it in a different angle. We don't know.

Finally... someone who sees it the way I do***

Apparently you don't see it the same way as probability does***

Either way it's just a freak accident. I don't think size matters

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

My girlfriend says otherwise!***

Sep 6, 2015, 10:33 PM

Nope. The ultra expensive folding goal posts took out our best receiver.

sucks.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I blame the fans from 2002

Sep 7, 2015, 1:14 AM

that got hurt when we tore down the goal posts.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How about if that Wofford DB had actually tried to tackle

Sep 8, 2015, 2:13 PM

him or knock the ball out of his hands, rather than a back shove like a little girl?

Re: Probably should have chased down the DB and fired

Sep 8, 2015, 3:18 PM

the cannon at him for good measure

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I would have paid that OSHA penalty myself.***

Wofford was shoving instead of tackling all game.

Sep 8, 2015, 3:36 PM [ in reply to How about if that Wofford DB had actually tried to tackle ]

Is all they could do well.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Probably not.

Sep 8, 2015, 5:50 PM

No one can say for sure, it was a freak accident.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, but unfortunately we tore those goal posts down!

Sep 8, 2015, 6:17 PM
