Green was the headhunter last year. Do we even have someone who can lay the wood on this year's squad?

I'd say a 6'3" 230lb Tanner Muse running a 4.45 40yd speed out of the box sounds pretty #### scary.... Especially if you're a receiver and there's no prep time between catch & contact.

Boulware, for sure, but I think O'Daniel's going to make a lot of noise at SAM.

Ben best tackler probably, but hitter not sure if he's the biggest stick? Joseph can pop as well. I agree Muse might be bringing the heat as well. A LOT of hitters on this team actually. Down the road keep your eye on the walk-on kid, Dabo's old room mates son. I apologize as his name escapes me at the moment, but I saw that kid blow some people up in his film.

Wasn't it Jefferie Gibson that laid the hit you're thinking of? Van Smith was pulling balls out of the atmosphere at will that game but he didn't make that hit.

Gibson's hit was good, but Smith had multiple good hits. Check out the final clip impressions on the announcers.

Oh, I get it. I thought you were referring to that deafening hit that Gibson put on Rawshawn Scott late in the game where he was laid out for several minutes.

Hard Hits are Over-Rated
Mar 23, 2016, 3:04 PM

They can change the complexion of a game in two ways. They can cause funbles and/or demoralize the opposing team. They can also result in missed tackles. We want hits that are hard enough to stop the forward momentum of the ball carrier, but we want to wrap up and bring guys to the ground.

The guy I'd want to be hit by the least is Big Dex

Hearing he's already been rag dolling many of our 300 lb O-Linemen. I wouldn't want any part of him getting a clean shot on me. As far as guys on the back end, Muse would be my choice.

Hard hitters are fine, especially for highlight reels, but I

prefer them to be in the right place at the right time and fundamentally sound tacklers. I would not get hung up too much on how hard they hit. Deon Sanders was one of the best CB's to ever play the game and I got the impression that he did not like to hit!

Agreed, precision and technique is everything. I still can't stop wondering why we aren't hearing more about Tanner Muse. There's plenty about Carter, Smith & Johnson, but I have lofty expectations for Tanner.
I mean... He's the same size as Kam Chancellor, yet somehow faster.

Watch out for Van Smith...he will be a hard hitting safety. He played as a true freshman last year. He will be a valuable guy for us next year
