Who I Wept For Today Still Years Later

May 30, 2022, 5:53 PM

This brave young lady, I knew back in the mid 90s. While stationed in Germany in the mid 90s at Wurzburg Germany, I was a young officer and her Father was my Colonel and a great leader who taught me so much. When we had our first child and I was deployed to the Balkans, Laura would babysit our newborn so my wife could get groceries etc. Laura watched and loved our daughter like her own, she was always a selfless teenager. She went on to West Point and into the service like her brother and then was leading a convoy in Afghanistan when killed in action.

I still don't know how the families of the fallen continue on, they must be made of stern stuff. God Bless, Rest Well Laura.

get through the pain. Laura, still cripples me to this day. I also get upset that I don't think about them on more than a few days a year. More on her and her military family.

Reminds me of a beautiful young girl from my hometown who was always thinking of ways she could help others- barely past the age to drive when she was killed in a car accident when she was taking kids to Carowinds - barely knew her but long enough to realize the potential impact she had for the world
