Careful what you wish for. 17 years of irrelevant play.

Yep! Only few would call in their frustrations back in the day, but no one hesitates to get keyboard happy these days.

Coach Ford, though terrific, was stubborn in that he treated the passing game as though it were illegal. If the other team limited our running attack, we were in trouble. Danny never really changed his stance. He relied solely on the run game, great defense, and special teams. The lack of the downfield passing kept us out of Natty consideration after 1981.

And one of those head scratchers was to Duke in Durham during his career.

Al Gore hadn’t invented the internet yet, but probably.

When we won, Coach Ford gave all the credit

to the assistant coaches who came up with the game plan and the players who executed it.

When we lost, he took full responsibility. You will seldom - if ever - hear Dabo do that.

I’d also like to point out that Coach Ford’s teams got the fundamentals right: the missed tackles and arm tackles we routinely see now were few and far between on Coach Ford’s teams. His teams didn’t build up a lead and then slack off, either; we’ve done a lot of that in recent years. That’s not the players’ fault; that’s on the coaching staff.
