What's your favorite IPA?

A few I like are Mountain Candy by Old Sycamore Brewing, Dirty Myrtle by New South Brewing, and Freak of Nature by Wicked Weed. Like trying new things. The hoppier the better. Any favorites or suggestions?

Can't go wrong with Sierra Nevada, their torpedo extra IPA is really good and it can be found in most grocery stores.
Sweetwater 420 is another that's easy to find but still really good.
Bell's two hearted IPA is hit or miss, some batches are good, some are bleh...
Dale's pale ale, while not labeled an IPA is really good and hoppy, a bit difficult to find in the southeast.
Lots of options these days, and I'm sure there are dozens of local breweries with great stuff

I enjoy them all, save for the NEIPA variety - they have a sweet finish I don't enjoy.
I hit up WECO in West Columbia Fridays for a random assortment for the week. IPA, DIPA, TIPA, and West Coast - they all check the boxes.
Bearded Iris stands out, along with Heist and Edmunds Oast. Westbrook, Wicked Weed, and Terrapin are my go-to 6-packs.

-If you ever have a chance to try Burial Brewery in Asheville - it's my absolute favorite brewery - NE style. -Most of my favorites are local microbrews. -If you can find Alchemist - Focal Banger and Heady Topper - both excellent. -Always enjoyed almost all of the Stone Brewing IPA's which can be found pretty much anywhere.

All my in-laws drink are Hazy IPAs which usually are the New England IPAs, and I have grown to like those. Some of those I like are:
Sierra Nevada - Hazy Little Thing Charlestown Fermentory - Sungazer Freeborn IPA - 13 Stripes Brewing Hazy Heights IPA - Highland Brewing Green Wave - Silos Brewing 2 Claw IPA - West Brooke Brewing
The sweet spots for hazy IPAs is around 6.0 - 6.5% Alc. Anything more than that is too boozy and less than that doesnt have the right flavor.

Too high of an alcohol content can be a bad thing. Once, while campin in the PNF, I was violated by Bigfoot. Hear me out! It was Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barleywine Ale and about 9.5%abv. Woke up in a fog, never the same…

Bleh
Only Porters and Stouts - all year here. But that is fine ... liking IPA and so, just support independents. Look for this label.
For example, Wicked Weed sold out years ago... so it is an AB InBev aka "Budweiser" brand. So avoid at all cost.
AB InBev does not compete on product, they try and control the distribution channels to keep out the little guys rather than making a better product.

In Bev has not changed anything about Wicked Weed’s beer. They have just increased their distribution. You can punish yourself by not drinking their beer if you want, but I still drink it. Pernicious and Freak of Nature are great IPA s. They also make some good sours over at the Funkatorium.

I drink good beer. Want good beer, there is about 20 other BETTER breweries in Asheville. Heck, you mentioned Highland down below so you already have a better option. Sweeten Creek brewing. Zillacoah hi-wie, archetype.
Wicked Weed is a tourist trap. It was fading as a local spot even before the AB Inbev bought them out. Burial was already brewing a better product.
As you said, InBev focuses on "distribution" not product.

I lived down the street from Sycamore when it first opened. Jesus, their beer tasted like absolute DIRT for the longest time. It has an amazing location so people still flocked to it and was raking in the cash.
Within the last 18 - 24 months they got a new head brewer and have become one of the best in the city. Mountain Candy might be the best IPA in Charlotte.
Triple C and Bird Song (both in charlotte) have some great IPA's.
As far as a national brand - a fresh keg of Bell's Two Hearted is probably 2nd to none. Don't get the bottles or cans...IPAs have such a short shelf life and getting it from a gas station or grocery store will likely lead to some off flavors.

1. Sweet water IPA (Atlanta)
2. Intuition I-10 IPA (Jacksonville, FL)
3. Terrapin Hopsecutioner. (Athens)
4. Sierra Nevada Celebration Fresh Hopped IPA
5. Lagunitas IPA (Calif)
6. Huger Street IPA. (Palmetto - Charleston)
In that order.

I like a lot of the hazy IPAs. Everything Alex brews at Keowee Brewing is excellent. You have to go to the brewery in Seneca to get it. Some that are more widely distributed that I like are:
New Belgium Juicy Hazy Highland Daycation Wicked Weed Pernicious, Freak of Nature and Coastal Love Steel Hands Juicy Hazy Low Tide Invincibility Juice Double IPA - only at the brewery on John’s Island and at tap houses like Pint Station and Growler Haus

I like them right in that 7-9 % range most of the time. Get too high of an ABV they get too sweet and too low they get too lead pipey.

Not one person has mentioned the best IPA around. If you haven’t tried NODA Brewery out of Charlotte. Hop Drop has been my favorite for years, by a wide margin. Pernicious a distant second.

PBR has been my go to beer since I was "old enough" to drink. You can't beat an ice cold PBR in a bottle (hard to find around me) or a miller pony in my opinion.

Definitely one of my favorite things to do is trying new IPAs. This needs to be pinned for future references. Some of my favorites are Sierra Nevada (all brands, especially Hazy Lil Thing), Elysian Space Dust, and Hoppyum. Drafts at the bar are preferred over cans or bottles.

Founders and voodoo ranger are the easiest pickins at my local grocery store, so those are more common at my house when I’m in an IPA mood.
Otherwise, I’ll shove fresh hops in my Mr. Coffee and make a pot of drip bitterness to mix into my Bud Light and imagine myself drinking a craft brew.

New anthem for IPAs in NC, but since our Tigers are playing in Massachusetts this week, Trillium and Treehouse IPAs. Anyone making the trip up this weekend I highly recommend a stop at one of their locations. Trillium has a location in Four Points not far from the airport which makes it easy to hit up on the way in/out of town
