I dont wanna say Streeter/Co-OCs are better than Morris

Dec 30, 2014, 9:26 AM

Buuuuut, They did make Cole look like a Heisman QB last night. Streeter is obviously the QB whisperer, Coles mechanics were night and day from Morris' tutelage. But the biggest thing that stood out to me, PLAYCALLING. Elliot called that game like a veteran. He put Cole in the position to make plays and called a game based on Coles strengths. I honestly believe if Morris was our OC last night we would have lost. He had no clue how to teach or call a game for Cole. Our future is VERY bright with Streeter and the CoOCs!

I have great respect for Coach Morris and appreciate everything he did for Clemson while he was here. But I think we can all recognize that from the moment he stepped foot on campus, he has had one eye on Clemson and the other on the state of Texas.

He laid a lot of groundwork for us, but we're better off going forward with Elliot, Scott, and Streeter. Those guys epitomize ALL IN.

I don't know what would have happened had Morris still

been here, but there is no getting around the FACT that Elliot/Scott/Streeter did a fantastic job. There is also no question in my mind that the time off made a huge difference in that it gave Cole a chance to heal a little bit as well. Add all of that up and you have a pretty good QB.

What I noticed about last night is there seem to be zero issue with getting the plays in quickly. When Chad was here it didn't matter whether it was Stoudt or Watson it seemed like it was always a struggle.

I pointed this out 1/3rd of the season in... Morris

Had served his purpose and had hit his ceiling at Clemson. It was time for a change in the OC position. He helped us no doubt, but we stagnated with him.

Misplaced recruiting priorities and his handling of Cole and Kelly also told the tale. I hope he s successful at SMU though.

To Morris' defense though, the announcers made a very interesting point last night too. They said with Morris being the QB coach and the OC, he couldn't be that support system for Cole like Streeter is able to be now for the QB. Spread too thin. With a dedicated QB coach, the QB comes off the field and immediately has a support structure to go to. An advocate. Morris had to worry about the whole offense situation.

I bet Morris learned a lot from his mistakes at Clemson. He isn't a dummy, that is for sure. And I am sure he will make adjustments now as a head coach too.

What I can say is...

There was absolutely no drop off. Will that continue into next season? Let's hope so but after last night I don't see any reason that it shouldn't.
What I'm most proud of is that fact that all three are Clemson Men. What a testament it is to your program when guys go from being players to being GA's to being assistants to being coordinators to one day being head coaches.
Dabo was given a chance and he hasn't forgotten it. He gives others who may not seem like they're the most qualified a chance as well and they work all the harder than someone who may think they're "entitled" or "Clemson's lucky to have them." From the big-name coordinators he's brought in, to the get-back coach, all of them have bought in to the system.
How much prouder are you today of your coaching staff than a Texas A&M fan who would have to explain why a petulant jerk-wad coaching assistant struck a WVU player not once but twice then got mad and wanted a flag when the player pushed him back.
Thank you to our coaches for doing things the right way and go Tigers!
