What has to happen

for us to get in the four team playoff? I know it's a longshot, but what are the key things that would need to happen other than FSU losing two conference games and us winning the conference?

I applaud your enthusiasm but I think a playoff bid is nothing more than a pipe dream now. If we had beaten either UGA or FSU we'd definitely be in a better situation but them's the breaks.

The invention of a time machine and we make one less mistake at FSU. Our best chance at winning the Atlantic died when Louisville couldn't get it done last Thursday. If Louisville would have won that game, then Miami could have upset FSU next week and propel us into the ACC champ. if we took care of business the rest of the way out. Alas, FSU has BC, UVA, and Miami remaining. Miami is the only realistic loss FSU could suffer, but given their performance on the road at Louisville, they will probably sneak out of Sun Life Stadium with another narrow win.
However, the highly unlikely, but at least possible scenario is that FSU could be overlooking the Wahoos this week in preparation for a road trip to Miami. The Hoos are reeling after a pretty strong start to their season, but in 2012 a worse UVA team went to Doak and pulled the improbable upset... probably a reason why London is still employed there. He once again finds himself on the hot seat. His defense is capable, if they could keep it tight, they have a chance. Huge IF, but if they lose to UVA, they could then get run over by Duke Johnson and the 'Canes.
Very unlikely, but hey, I can dream right?

which is the least likely to happen in the scenario.
But ND and either the B1G, BigXII, or Pac 12 champ must be eliminated from the playoff. There are a ton of possibilities there. SEC must not get two in, so the champ needs to emerge and the others fall by the wayside. Miss St rolling through undefeated may eliminate all the other SEC teams, sans Aub.
Iowa and Minn still control their destiny in the B1G.
So, basically, a bunch of 2 loss teams with conf titles and we're one of them.
But, I knew back on Sep 20 that the game at FSU was our ticket to the playoff, and we blew it. We'd be in great shape had we won that one.
