(and it sounded pretty cool). A sort of meet-and-greet with Marianne Eaves, who is the first female Master Distiller in US history. She's worked at Brown-Forman, Castle & Key, and Sweeten's Cove before her work now on her new brand, Forbidden. They've had their B1 bourbon out for less than a year (I think) and they're about to release B2, which we got to try last night. Also done some single barrel releases, and the one they poured last night was...ok. Pretty swanky event/space G&G has there on Morrison--they've definitely upped their status from their last office, and I'm glad the invite included "business casual" because I woulda been underdressed otherwise.
Anyway, I asked the girl pouring hooch a question or two about what she was pouring and she's like "you're gonna want to talk to this guy"--nice fella in a suit named Dan who is one of the investors in Forbidden, and we chatted a bit about mashbills and what they're working on and how he got Marianne on boards, yadda yadda. I think I asked him what part of the country he lived in, or what state or something, and he's like "oh, well, I'm the Mayor of Columbia." Like, Columbia, SC? Yep.
That has to be the funniest "oh btw" line I've ever heard.
This fella, Daniel Rickenmann.

my co-worker was in the conference room with our boss and he realized the boss-man was wearing a woman's suit.
So they came out of the conference room and we were like, yo, boss, that's lady's clothes. And he was denying it like crazy until Kevin was like. Who makes it? Bossman opened up the suit and it had a pink or purple lining and it said MISSterious.
Oh man, that was a great day at the office!!!
