I’m typically in your corner… I think Brad is a good coach… with that said, technically Dabo has won one Championship since the portal was implemented on October 15, 2018.
Here is a fun fact:
25% of the teams who do not use the portal have won a championship

Portal players are mostly, quitters. And sure, not ALL of them, but MOST. They are young men who have become dissatisfied with their current situation at their current school and looking for a new direction, a fresh start, something to rejuvenate their perspective and hope for success. But still, any way you look at it, they are still 'quitters.'
So, who wants a quitter? Honestly? Winners never quit and quitters never win...right?
Dabo knows what he's doing, and if you don't think he does... watch!
I couldn't be prouder to be a Tiger than I am right now, and Dabo Swinney is the reason! He believes in his players and his players believe in him.
So do I.

Judge, Dabo hasn't failed by not using the portal, and he shouldn't have to say again that he likes who he has, and he was 100% correct when he said that if he brings in a portal guy, he could risk losing 2, maybe 3 other player that is trying to win that job, and if he had of brought in a portal guy, there is no guarantee the portal would be better than the 2-3 players he has trying to win that job out right.
How many times here on T-net do we say that competition will push somebody to work harder to win just one position. Bring in a portal center, and those guys that's working their butts off to win the job, if they leave when Dabo brings in a portal guy, who is left to push that guy to get better. If I understand what Dabo was saying, it must have been pretty easy to understand, and that means that most everybody else should understand what he was saying!!!!

I'm choosing not to be a hypocrite and take an unnecessary shot at the basketball program just to get under someone's skin (Judge). I give Brownell a lot of credit for the success he has had in the portal, particularly over the last couple of years.
When you compare the two programs, it is apples and oranges. If BB could recruit out of high school like football does, there would not be the need for so many transfers. Brad is doing what he has to do, out of necessity, to try and put a competitive team on the floor. Dabo is in a completely different situation and his approach should be different. He can afford to be selective and not have to replace 25% of his team with transfers every year.

I will say when it comes to the OL, he made some significant effort to try and bring some guys in. Like he said, they have to choose us too and it just didn't pan out this cycle. I'm glad to see we at least made the effort and hope we will selectively continue to do so, but with more success.

As "Dabs" succinctly stated in his comments, who's he going to get? There is only 1 spot available. Who's he going to get? Why should we be content with someone else's cast offs? I realize that there are some good players in the mix, but among the ones who are good, how many stay with the second transfer? The third? His coaches have said they are good with who they have. How about this? Why does Clemson seem to have an issue trying to find a spot to fit "cast offs" when every single other D1 program does not have these same problems? We cannot seriously delude ourselves that the Clemson program is so unique it has a complete inability to effectively and selectively use the transfer portal like every other d1 program

Just look at what is happening with our basketball team. We take 4 or 5 guys from the portal and then cry about our own players hitting the portal.
You can’t have it both ways.

If anyone is naive enough to believe that if Dabo thought a Portal player would make the difference in making the Playoffs or not and he passed on trying to get that player, then there are professionals that that can help. Trust the man, trust the process and don't jump off the roof just because little Johnny did.

August 31st at 4 pm has nothing to do with what Clemson football is! There’s what 131 other teams in D1 football and only 1 team can be the champion. The graduation rate, the lack of players jumping off the team, the rare player sitting out bowl games because they love their teammates. There is a certain kind of player Dabo seeks out, more often than not he gets his players. Look what all those portal players got FSU last year. Georgia may win, but Clemson is far and away the better more prestigious program. Do you really want what Kirby and his band of merry ######## has built down in Athens? What about the little ##### Norvell down in Tallahassee? Do you really want a culture of the highest bidder and I’m not playing unless I get paid? I’ll take Clemson football every day. It might get frustrating at times and you really can’t win them all, but Dabo is all class and has built the best football program in college football!

I’ll give Dabo this… he knows how to make it sound so good.
We’ll see if all these people saying they’re with him all the way are still saying that after week 1 or even next season when we lose 2/3 games we shouldn’t.
He can put that pretty spin on it all he wants and hey if all some of you care about is continuity and graduating players then that’s great but he doesn’t get paid to graduate players… he gets paid to win football games and whether me or anyone else agrees with it that’s what college football is now.
Nobody (other than our fans) gives a d@mn about how many players graduate. It’s about wins and losses and that’s the bottom line no matter how much Dabo or anyone else tries to spin it.
We will not seriously challenge for another national championship as long as Dabo is here. But hey… as long as we’re doing it the “right way” then who cares about wins and losses.

We might deserve a trophy for truly keeping our amateur status. The whole NIL/transfer deal has so upended college football that most teams are far more "professional" than semi-pro teams of yesteryears ever were. I hope we do well this year, but irrespective of our record, we can be proud that Clemson did it right.

Clemson had 12 outgoing transfers to one incoming last season. This year its 12 and zero, respectively. That by itself is not sustainable. Sure, they can fill the vacancies with high school recruits, but to what end? Every team in the country is recruiting high school prospects. Clemson won’t get every player they want and will have to settle for less talented players. Future teams will increasingly become less talented and younger if the Tigers don’t start using the transfer portal. With Clemson trying to leave the ACC to, assumedly, the SEC or Big Ten, that won’t be a recipe for success. Quality team depth and experience will matter.

C'MON Coach....please stop with that goofy statement. I understand and believe Clemson should be given a trophy or some type of award for its outstanding graduation rate but one for not using the transfer portal...that is like saying getting a reward for not adapting to change. That sounds even worse than a participation trophy. As I have said before.....cut out all the talking and focus on August 31 at 12noon in the Georgia Dome...enough said. Let the play on the field speak for itself.

This is the fact that I appreciate. Dabo Swinney does not serve the fans of Clemson he serves the players. 98.5% of the players in college football will never make the pro's so eventually I think many players are going to get wise to the fact that they are being used and abused by other universities that are more concerned with paying a team than with their personal education and development.
It make take some time, but I really am seeing the vision of Dabo Swinney and am more for it all the time. Its like a team of horses. Some horses pull hard because they are being whipped. Other horses pull even harder because they love pulling and love who they are pulling for.
