They are effectively permitting unlimited transfers now so the mess they've already created can get worse.

The tweet is a message to his own boosters that they need to step it up.

Teams have been buying players since the 1800s. There's just more money in the sport now, and they don't have to do it under the table anymore.

shoplifted...but now that they've legislated that its legal to shoplift up to a certain amount...the stores are closing and going out of business. Cause and effect.

I can see something eerily similar eventually happening to college football.

And you're right, teams have been paying players for years but there was always been the caveat that if they ever got busted then justice would come down hard. Same thought went for the thief in San Francisco. The thing was though that we all took solace in knowing that doing wrong would never be rewarded only punished. But now that we've legislated what we've always perceived as wrong, only chaos can ensue.

The fact that this picture of Ryan Day is now honestly how you recruit is sad. And it is the end of a chapter of the good ole days for most teams. You know have corporations and conglomerates representing college football. The days of amateur sports belong to the 6-8th graders only.

too many other coaches Christmas card lists. And the list dwindles pretty much every time he posts something.

Kind of the modern day Steve Spurrier, whom I actually got to like after years of not liking him at all.

Couple things here. Ohio State didn’t spend anything. Boosters, collectives, and whatnot spent the money. I don’t believe anyone really knows what has been spent. This is a report. Day said a year or so ago that approx $13 million was needed just to keep his roster intact. Unfortunately that’s the world we live in. “Ohio State” was late to the NIL game. Looks like things have turned around. I don’t think any fans like what college football has become. But I am sure the players love it.

Agreed! If I was a player no doubt about it. Just needs structure and rules to keep everyone I would say more honest. Not going to fix all cheating, but you can at least make an attempt to rein it in. Just going to take the fun out of it for me.

Being a Clemson guy I would not feel the same if I felt like we bought a championship. I know many could careless how they win it but I’m not that guy.

There are many ways to “buy” a championship. The players were always getting paid - just indirectly. In the past, when a school paid $100 million or more to build the best football facilities, who benefited? The players. Why spend so much? To attract the best players.

NFL has a draft, a salary cap, tampering rules, contracts, etc.

College has no balance right now.

NCAA needs to reinstate sitting out a year for transferring NO MATTER THE REASON and just give kids 6 years to compete 4 vs the 5 now. At least then, you basically limit a player to 3 transfers max. Add a tampering clause that says any direct collective contact with a kid prior to signing with a school (either hs or portal) is an automatic 5 scholarship loss for the next recruiting cycle for every instance. These 2 things would stop the chaos.

And for anyone that says "you can't limit the open market", you absolutely can because its the rules for participating in the NCAA. It's the same reason Clemson can't leave the ACC, because they agreed to the rules for being a member.
