We played to win, not to impress

Jan 5, 2016, 12:41 PM

When looking back at our schedule it's easy to forget that we played to win. With the lead in the fourth quarter, the game plan has been to play conservative football. At times it's been frustrating to watch, but we're undefeated. I've watched games when bama continued to run Henry and put up style points until the clock hit double zero. Keep this in mind when comparing the two scheduled. I ain't scared

I think Clemson was able to "relax" most of their games after getting up big early. They are good enough to do that. A lot of your scores like USC looked a lot closer than they were. Alabama didn't run up the score on anyone though. Keep in mind when Bama played bad oppenents like Carleston Southern and UL Monroe they only ran Henry about half the time as his season average. And they actually gave up late touchdowns with their back ups in and games like Arkansas ending up looking closer than they were. Much like Clemson

I'm not a tide fan so I haven't watched allot of their games. Unless my memory has failed me, which is plausible at this stage, they continued to run Henry and put up points against auburn. This after the game was well in hand. We talked about it at the time and hoped he didn't get injured.

They did that to ensure Henry got the heisman.

Which is a valid reason.

Point taken, however, that supports the op. Some of our games would have been lopsided if we didn't let off the gas. Personally, I'm glad that Dabo didn't play to impress to pad DW4 stats and risk the entire season. Does anyone else think that Henry has taken a beating that will reduce his time in the pros? Asking because I don't have the football knowledge that many posters possess.
