I never knew they had lights...It's funny, cause I called Wallace Wade Stadium friday & asked what time the Clemson game was & the lady said, "I don't know, what time can you be here"?

If Duke was at home this year and away next, DUKE would have been a night game in death valley, but we have to go to Duke this year, and next year they will end up being duke again and itll be a noon kickoff next year in death valley

they had a couple of games that were ESPN3 only so they were able to determine those times. Otherwise, the networks set the times.

It's part of the negotiation in TV deals.

Each conference gets certain time slots, and it's up to the schools and the conference to decide which schools go into those time slots.

corrected this year.
you are right for the most, BUT if clemson wanted night games i'm sure the network/acc would do their best to accommodate clemson as they've done this year with lsu.
note: if i'm not mistaken, the unc/duke game from saturday was 'picked' by the acc.
LSU AD Joe Alleva apologizes for no home night games October 18, 2011 8:51 am, CDT
LSU will not host a home game at night in 2011.
Dear Tiger Fan, It is truly unfortunate that, for the first time in 76 years, LSU will not play a Southeastern Conference game at night in Tiger Stadium the entire 2011 season.
Saturday Night in Tiger Stadium is a tradition for our fans, a staple in college football and one of the unique experiences in all of sports. It is the hallmark of LSU football, a brand for our athletics program. It is revered by football pundits and feared by Tiger opponents.
But with success comes a price, and in this case the price is afternoon kickoffs instead of night football. CBS will always take the game it deems to be the most interesting and that will often involve teams that are playing at the highest level. LSU is ranked No. 1 in the BCS standings at this moment and that puts Tiger Stadium in the cross-hairs of any TV network.
LSU is fortunate to be a member of the Southeastern Conference. It is the most successful and prestigious conference in America. It is the home of the last five college football national champions – and numerous national champions in other sports – so Tiger fans regularly get to witness the very best college football has to offer.
I am sure you are aware of the many recent changes in conference alignments. LSU is fortunate to be in a viable, stable and successful conference and not in the volatile situation many high profile universities find themselves in right now.
As a conference member, LSU must abide by the television contracts that have been negotiated by the SEC. The financial benefit of being a member of the SEC helps make the LSU athletics program as successful as it is while also remaining self-sufficient – using no state tax dollars and no student fees. Without the television revenue from the SEC, this would not be possible.
It is important for you to know two things:
LSU cannot refuse to move a game. If we are requested to move a game for television, under the existing TV contracts, we must do so.
LSU receives no additional money for playing a game in the afternoon. Whether kickoff is in the morning, afternoon or night, LSU receives the same money from the SEC.
I think I speak for everyone at LSU that we would rather play all of our games at night. But to remain a competitive program we must be a member of a conference and therefore must abide by its TV contracts. So I hope you will come to Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoon and make it just as loud and intimidating as it would be after dark. There is no place like Tiger Stadium on Saturday night, but there is no place like Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoon, either.
As always, we welcome your comments at athletics@lsu.edu. Unfortunately we cannot answer every e-mail we receive, but please be assured they are all read.
Geaux Tigers!
Joe Alleva

TDP stated that he lobbies with the networks to get daytime kicks for home games. Said that Clemson is in a unique situation and people need to be able to drive home from the game at a reasonable hour.
What it equates to is that there are some powerful boosters who like day games. It's BS.

It is. TDP made a statement about this very same thing a couple of years ago. And he said most prefered day games. But I do think he lied about the most prefered part. Maybe most of the E-Mails that steady hit his office every year of the ones screaming no night games. The I don't want people complain more the people who do want.

This is pretty awesome if you ask me. I'll be there tailgating all day and then I have a 3 hour layover watching Clemson drop 40+ on them. Planning on taking the grill with me to this one. See you guys there. Go TIGERS!

Really No Other Option!
Oct 22, 2012, 2:56 PM
|
|
Look at the schedule:
Georgia Tech at Maryland, ACC Network (split network), 12:30 p.m. Virginia at NC State, ACC Network (split network), 12:30 p.m. Boston College at Wake Forest, RSN, 3:30 p.m. Clemson at Duke, ESPN2, 7 p.m.
What game would you put on Primetime if you were the ACC? Clemson has the best fan base of any of those games and the ACC/ESPN knows that the Clemson game will get more viewers than all the other games. I don't think it is "we are out to get you thing" but more like, "your hot, so we are going to exploit you thing."
Just my opinion!

Yeah, they "prefer" not "decide." ESPN and the ACC decide. I prefer filet mignon and my wife giving me sex every night, but that doesn't happen every night.

To me that would indicate that it's our AD that doesn't want night games at DV and not TV as some would lead you to believe.
