Hope you get that second chance. Too much talent not to. At the very worst, you made the league and got the pay day. Thats something very few people can claim to have done. Always a Clemson Man.

Go Tigers

So-called football expertise - Mike Mayock

Mar 2, 2023, 1:24 PM

Mayock was the #1 NFL Network draft expert for close to a decade. Then he was given the chance from Mr. Davis to GM the Raiders. And his picks were mostly poor including Ferrell who was drafted too high by several rounds. Nine of ten Tiger fans could have briefed Mike Mayock in 2018 that Christian Wilkins and Dexter Lawrence were the two most talented players on the Tiger d-line. And yet the expert blew the 2018 (and follow-on) drafts, and the Raiders are still languishing as a result. The point is when you read about so-called football and coaching expertise on Tnet, take it with a grain of salt. They exist, but few embody a high level of expertise for a sustained number of years.

That was a Gruden pick

Mayock was GM in name only. Gruden drove all of those draft picks.

Drafted too early by several rounds!? Are you serious? So you think he was a round 5-7 guy? Of course he wasn't a #4 pick type player but he was absolutely a day / mid day 2 pick. He was just put in a bad situation with too much pressure on him. Now I agree wholeheartedly that CW & DL were better players but the Raiders needed a DE, not DT.
