-honest to goodness first game I can recall where Brownell’s actions from the bench made a significant contribution to the outcome of the game. I’m not saying that I think he’s been sitting on his thumb drinking free Gatorade the rest of his time here, but he had numerous strategic moves and calls that legitimately kept Arizona on their back foot and he flat out coached their staff, and IMHO, that’s been rare. Well done.
- I don’t know how or why the old Chase came back after being gone most of the season, but it’s incredible to see. May he never leave us again.
- Hall played smart and physical and put in the quietest 17 points I’ve ever seen. I saw him conscientiously lay off gimme putts in the first half that would have normally seen him get a cheap foul, and he was going toe to toe all night with Clubber Lang who apparently cannot commit a foul. His 8 rebs were huge.
-Girard is a head scratcher in this tournament. As a few of us (looking at you bengaline) have noted, he’s generally more of a ball handling and defensive liability if he’s not pouring in long range buckets. That wasn’t as much of an issue last night with 6 nice assists (especially the last one) and only one turnover, but his offensive production has to get back to 10-12 PPG if we have a chance at winning this thing.
Bottom line, UConn and Tenn are the only possible remaining matchups I truly don’t like for us, but I’d give my left one for a chance to avenge the Tate George debacle, and like RH, fully basketball erect at the moment.

The other team is effecting Girard and Tyson. Maybe they are putting their better defender on Girard now. It is limiting his shots but opening Chase to run the floor.
Like Alabama last night out their center in UNC guard who was quick, but could not shoot worth a dime. The center played about 10 ft off of him the whole time. I dont think i have ever seen a 5 play a 1... but it worked.

Totally nuts we've gotten this far without big games by Hall or Girard.***

Agree about in-game coaching last night.

But I'll add that game plans against NM, Baylor, and Zona were solid and seemingly well-scouted. Our MO is usually 'This is what we do, win or lose' rather than coming into a game with a specific plan. Or, at least we typically LOOK that way. One other thing I'll add...I didn't like the fact that no matter who we faced Saturday, both teams had already seen us up close and personal this year so any surprises about how we operate are out the window. I'd much rather face someone who hasn't experienced us in years prior than a re-match.

Wait till he comes out with Jake Heidbreder running the point in a 1-3-1 offense and you’ll see the genius that lies beneath.

Yes! Easily BB's best coached game in his 14 years here.

I disagree about JG3. It looks to me like a lot of the defense is geared towards denying him shots. That's opening up other opportunities. Whoever said he isn't a D1 player is just wrong.
Hall played really, really smart defense in the first half. It was great to see. Arizona's Center looked like Godzilla. That dude was enormous. I'm glad they forgot about him down the stretch.
Hunter has been getting to the rim all year but now he is finishing. No clue what changed but I'm glad it did!
What a run.

obviously worked well for us.....one where we take questionable shots and make a lot of them, and our opponent misses seemingly routine shots over and over and over and over again.
Them wildcats missed I think like a good 5 easy buckets around the rim. Almost every time we take some rushed 3 by someone like Jack(ed up on adderall) Clark I'm like "OH NO WHY?!!!) then the ball is all like SWISHERSWEETMOTHAFUCKAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm worried about the next reincarnation of Keith Van Horne or whoever that white kid is for 'bama. But you know what? FUCKBAMA. Tell Nick Saban I said so.
We are obviously in the double bonus of our season right now, but fugget why not us at this point?
