It seems Dabo is a victim of his own success. He truly elevated the program, the facilities, the rate of graduation, the GPA, and unfortunately, our expectations. I, for one, am ALL IN. Who am I to tell Dabo how to do his job? He did it. With his plan. College football has changed, not for the better, but I support Dabo. If in 5 years, we have spiraled...then we have a different conversation. I am grateful for what has been done to Clemson Football. I say

Go Tigers

Yes, Yes, and yes! I will say that no one in Tiger Nation can love Dabo Swinney anymore that I do, only his family has a love for Dabo that fans can't come close to. Love him, like him, or hate him, wherever you fit in one of those categories I think you have questioned some of the things that Dabo has done as some point over the past 4-5 years, and my biggest question from everything that he has done was some of the coaching hires he made when Jeff Scott, Tony Elliott, Brent Venables, and several other position coaches left for what they believe was to better their career.

IMO it takes a stronger person to realize that they may have made a mistake then try and correct them, and I believe that Dabo saw fault with those hires, and he has made huge strides in correcting his mistakes to this point and time, and I believe that Tiger Nation will see improvement at every position the newest hires have filled.

Now that the Bama Job has been filled with a person not named Dabo Swinney, the tension in my gut has been relieved and I'm able to eat again. Go Dabo, let's go Tigers down another path back to the national championship game. Our newest hardware is starting to get old in our trophy case, and it's time for some new pieces!!!!

Curious as to why, he never came out and made a statement saying Publicly that he was staying at Clemson. Like Lanning, Sark and Norvell. Gives me the belief that he was actually contemplating leaving if offered. Glad he stayed. Go Tigers

Because that was a family decision that he made. Fans aren't entitled to know every detail. As David stated, he talked it over with his family and they were happy here, so he probably told Bama at that point there was no interest for now on his part, and that's when DeBour was announced. There wasn't exactly a whole lot of time after his actual decision to come out and announce it. Despite that 48 hours feeling like eternity for us fans, it was in fact only 48 hours.

Probably because he didn’t want to publicly say he had no interest in coaching his alma mater.

Also, to be fair, none of the other coaches made a statement—they just released videos, and Clemson did the same.

Because he wasn't offered the job. All these people going out and publicly turning down jobs that they were never offered in the first place are just doing it for attention. They contacted Dabo and he told them thanks but no thanks. No need to parade your decision around for the whole world. He might need to reconsider that option 5 years from now. Never know. Really glad Dabo is staying. I firmly believe we have the best coach in college football. Let's get back to winning more championships!

a long time is probably accurate. None of us will ever know, but I suspect he had been carrying around the question of "What is my answer if Momma calls when Nick retires at Alabama?" in his mind and heart for a few years now.

Dabo knowing and being a friend of Saban, I doubt if he was caught as off-guard as most of us were. And, he was not going to just dismiss a chance to coach at his Alma Mater out of hand. So, there had to be some real soul searching going on, balancing what he himself created here, versus the tradition he could continue at Alabama. Let us not forget, he and Kathleen BOTH are from Alabama. It was probably not as easy a decision as we would like to think it was.

But, on to the looking happy part. Once he made the decision, it probably cleared his mind, for the first time in a long time, and in a way, reaffirmed his love for Clemson. If this place has enough of a hold on him that he turned down a chance to go home to Alabama, then he now has a renewed sense of place, and that "bloom where you are planted" mantra means more now than ever.

They are truly part of the Clemson family. He is not just a hired gun outsider solely tasked with trying to win football games. This is home and orange runs in their family's blood now. Just like President Clements with his daughters going here. It also doesn't hurt that Dabo is basically the king of Pickens County, and going home to Mama would require standing in the former king's shadow for the rest of his life.

Maybe this will slow down some of the critics. For example, those who were saying Dabo was going to use the Bama job as leverage for a raise. Instead he uses the opportunity to get more money for his assistants. We need to keep guys like Nick Eason happy.

It says a lot that Dabo, Kathleen, and several staff members show up at a gymnastics event with recruits. Those recruits are getting an idea what All In for Clemson means to Dabo and his staff.

There will still be critics. Those that can’t resist the shiny new pennies that show up in the portal. And some who just live to complain.

Hopefully David and others he talked to are right that the momentum is building again. I said at the end of the season that it felt a little like 2014 or 2015 to me. All I can ask for is that the next few years are fun like those years and the years that followed were.

The very best coach are the ones in the stands or at home making coaching decisions after the play or after the game including myself at times. I don’t believe anyone would want the real time pressure Coach Swinney is under every day. So congratulations to Dabo to what he has done and will continue to do. There will continue to be ups and downs but as long as the Tigers beat the “dirtpeckers” consistently then all will continue to be good. Go Tigers.

Those who are iupset with the tigers 9 wins, including a bowl game, must be too young to remember when we Clemson folks would be excited about that season’s outcome. I too love the undefeated years, beating the chickens., winning a national championship, but expecting that to happen every year is unrealistic. It’s not likely that we will have another Trevor Lawrence or Deshaun Watson. Receivers like Nuk, Sammy, etc, etc, are hard to find too. But I hope that we have some budding stars on the 2024 team who will take the team back to being a playoff contender. But if they don’t, they will still be my team and I will always be a tiger. And I’m grateful and relieved that Dabo willl continue to be our coach. He may be a little stubborn, but so am I, so I can appreciate that in him,, even when he does things that I don’t agree with.
Enough of my rambling.
Go Tigers
