Don’t like the Vegas picks. 2 from the SEC and 2 from the BIG10 would be horrible. Hope the Tigers win their way in and keep that from happening.

Agreed, especially after the new TV deals, we don’t need those two conferences getting any more love than they already do

Exactly, with Clemson staying within the top 4 teams is what it will take for our Tigers to ensure our selves of getting invited into one of the two power conferences when that move comes, and it will surely come. And I hope that Dabo has thought about that, and if Goodwin slips up just a little this season, Dabo will react as quick as he did with replacing Streeter and if not, Clemson could end up forever being on the outside looking in of two power conference with 20 teams in each of the two power conferences. If we were left out IMO, that would about put an end to Clemson ever having a strong sports program with any sport, and that would be one of saddest times of my entire life!!!

I'm happy it wasn't just me - the last line of the article was ridiculous:
"The consensus Vegas favorites to make the 2023 CFP are Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan."
These teams would have to play each other in their respective Conference Championship games which should in effect be an extension of the CFP. Tell us it's all about money without telling us. The CFP Committee better have more representation than the SEC and the B1G.
I am a firm believer that a 4 team playoff with 5 Power Five conferences should never have 2 teams from the same conference, let alone all four teams being from just 2 conferences.

I like this coming from Phil Steele , he normally does thorough research.

I've never thought much of Phil Steele and his picks, but I've been picking Clemson to the playoffs for a year already. When it comes to the teams that I follow, Steele hasn't ever been that accurate in my opinion and I know for an absolute fact he's not accurate about Texas.

12-0 and win the ACC title game would be ideal but as long as win the ACC with no more than 1 loss I think we are in.

We absolutely do not have to run the table. That has been the narrative the last couple of years bc the ACC was sucking and coots were horrible. Our schedule is tough this year. We can easily absorb a loss, as long as we win the ACC.

I will take being in the top 5 because Bama and Georgia would likely have to play each other and any stumble would open the door for us if we take care of business.

Alabama wasn't even that good last year and could have lost several more games than they did. They almost lost to a very average Aggie team and were lucky because the Aggies were on the 2 yard line near the end with a chance to win. Refs helped them throughout the season and the dirt bags admitted that they blew that safety call against Texas. They lost their QB and will start over this year. Maybe the transfer QB will be good.

If either Clemson or FSU finishes the season 12-1 or 13-0, that team will go to the playoffs. I think Steele's picks make sense. Clemson's defense needs to move from good to great and offense needs to move from mediocre to good. I think both are likely. We wanted to believe that the loss of Venebles and Elliot would not hurt us last year, but that was unrealistic. Now Goodwin has had a chance to solidify his role and I am anticipating great things from the defense. Riley is new, but his installation appears to be going well. The biggest question is in the WR room. If we have some leaders emerging from that room this fall, this team will be in the playoffs again. If we get to the playoffs, we will not be favored, but we are use to that position.
