Question for those sticking up for "views"
Aug 2, 2012, 10:31 AM

1. Do you realize that the boycott is a great deal about the organizations Cathy donates to?
2. If Cathy or any other fast food owner donated to a group who, allegedly, wanted to kill Christians (lets say they donated to terrorists) would you boycott the establishments?

lol there's plenty of people who want to kill christians, gay people etc.
If it is true that Cathy is donating to groups who have these views, then I would expect Christians to be on the side of the movement against him....
Just saying....
But then again, it never was about being Christian and has always been about the "disgusting gays". People who blame their faith instead of admitting they are bigots....

Dailykos -- a left-wing blog that traffics in democratic talking points. Good for a laugh now and then.

Now this I agree with, but that isn't the sentiment of the majority yesterday. Let's face some reality here.

When a City Government decides that stifling businesses

is good for their city then let the voters deal with it.
They are elected to represent the people. If a particular people don't like a certain business I don't see a problem.

a business should not be kept from conducting business due to the opinion of the owner.

SO if a city doesn't want gay owned businesses...is that OK?

Or is there a double standard?
Personally, I think the government should see businesses as nameless and faceless. If a busniess wants to come and provide jobs for people, welcome them with open arms regardless of who the owner is. At that point the residents get to decide with their dollars if they want to support that business. Hello CAPITALISM!!

Thousands of people showed up at Chick-Fil-A yesterday. Many of them support equal rights for gays. It's NOT about the gays, it's about fascist democratic government officials threatening to ban a business based upon its owner's religious beliefs. That was truly despicable. If the USA stands for anything, it is our God-given right to hold our own views and so long as we break no law, the right to express those views. Go Tigers.

1) Do you realize that the majority of the folks boycotting CFA couldn't name 1 organzation that Cathy donates to?
And along those same lines most of the folks supporting CFA yesterday couldn't tell you the name of the Mayor of Boston/Chicago/San Fran that to this point is the only gov't authorities that have threatened to infringe on CFA and Cathy's 1st ammendment rights.
2) When did CFA put a bounty on gays? Thats a bit steep but there are plenty of businesses that support causes that I oppose. The NFL is a huge supporter of the United Way and the United Way is a huge supporter of Planned Parenthood....I can't wait for the opening day of NFL football.

Knowing the names of them and hearing "he supported a group who wants to kill us" is a big difference...
Supporting planned parent hood and supporting groups who want to kill you is a big difference....
There's a difference in having an opinion and being inhumane....one I will give a pass and chalk up to freedom, the other I would boycott and condemn....
Now with that said, I love my chick fil a and might eat it today. I think the whole thing is stupid. But if it's proven that he supports a group who wants to murder people, as a Christian, I'll have a problem...

Who is being supported that wants to kill anyone?

To be clear I'm no fan of any group advocating the murder of any other individual. And I'd think quite a bit less of any individual knowingly supporting said group.
Now then, how does that, at all, come into play in the current situation?

there's nothing wrong with any of those groups

except that they promote traditional marriage and strong families. If there was anything to be troubled about, it was that FRC had allegedly lobbied for a bill that would have made "aggressive homosexuality" an offense that could be punishable by death in Uganda. Even lobbying for such a bill would not mean FRC "wanted to kill" homosexuals. But FRC says they did nothing of the sort, and had only been asked to work on clarifying language in the HOR resolution condemning that bill.
I think you're also not seeing the whole picture. Many of the people who are supposedly "sticking up for views" are also standing up to politicians (and those who would potentially do the same) who have taken it upon themselves to keep a business out of their cities or districts simply because their CEO has a political opinion different from theirs. Unless CFA is actively discriminating against people with same sex attraction, which they aren't, they shouldn't be treated as if they were a criminal organization. If people were to just sit around and take that kind of tyranny, then you can bet the speech of others who would stick up for marriage will be chilled.
