that we have a real rivalry with them for the first time ever.

"Real rivalry" should be defined as two very good programs in the national conversation every year, and one that isn't dominated by one school for many years.

We dominated this rivalry from 1976 to 2008. Carolina turned it into a real rivalry with their excellent program the last 4 years.

Because it's finally a real rivalry and Carolina's program is so good, it'll be very sweet when we do beat them again (next year or 2014), and could have national implications for either school.
