Our colors should be changed to Burnt Orange and the same

Nov 22, 2013, 9:41 AM

blue that is on the state flag of South Carolina. What is the official name of that blue?

That would be the best combination and the administration could do it without making a big announcement for fans of other schools to harp on. Just change it, change the orders for Clemson items. They did the change ot Regalia without a mention.

The best combination is burnt orange and state flag blue.

I assume that is just navy blue though I guess technically navy is so dark it looks almost black

The school has even changed the name of the purple and it seems it is looking worse and worse. The inconsistency and the unattractiveness of the purple being used lately is alarming and needs to be changed.

There's a lot of things I can put up with, but when something (not a person) has an unattractive appearance, I have a hard time with that.

When alumni and fans of Clemson spout off about how unique

Nov 22, 2013, 10:29 AM

Clemson is with the Hill, Esso Club, Howard's Rock, DV, etc. it becomes comical to me to hear this stuff about Clemson's colors. The only orange and purple school in the nation and we want to change that but we talk about the uniqueness of Clemson.....last time i checked one of the most unique things about Clemson is the colors that no other school wears other than Clemson. Why it's not celebrated by all Clemson folks boggles my mind.

by my mom's brother (my Uncle) who played at Clemson from '52 to '55 and he's been pissed off forever about the lack of purple trim on the football team's unis since the early '70's and how folks think we're actually orange and white, etc...i could go on and on. He wore purple pants and orange jerseys with purple numbers for Coach Howard and when he hears "ugly", "soft", "feminine", "Barney", etc. it infuriates him. He's a crusty old guy but the "orange/white" cheer used to torque him off big time years ago. It seems that to the 1950's and older crowd Orange and Purple was to them what just Orange is to the younger crowd and it irritates the hell out of him. Guess my Unc brainwashed me too, LOL.

Re: When alumni and fans of Clemson spout off about how unique

Nov 22, 2013, 11:01 AM [ in reply to When alumni and fans of Clemson spout off about how unique ]

I don't celebrate the purple/regalia because I think black makes more sense. (and makes things much easier for a lot of reasons)

1. Tigers have black stripes. (not regalia/indigo)
2. Clemson Football plays in Memorial stadium
3. Clemson's football field is called Death Valley
4. Clemson runs down a hill. (which is a stripe that could be better utilized
to sell their brand if the rug was black IMO)

I think the marketing department should replace the regalia with black and market the stripe, (more than the paw) as the stripe is the one thing that ties the Universities tradition, military history, mascot together. (much more than the paw does IMO)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think I speak for almost everyone when I say....

Nov 22, 2013, 11:20 AM

I'm glad you're not part of Clemson's marketing department.
