If I'm the coach for the Chargers, I'm starting to think of

giving Charlie a few reps with the first team in the next preseason game.

'I have a kid' Rivers has been a very under-impressive turnover machine while Whitehurst has been very consistent as the signal caller.

IIRC, wasn't Whitehurst injured?***

Not while I was watching. No imjury is mentioned in this article either:

Fact is that Charlie is one of the 3 or 4 best backup QB's in the NFL!
He could possibly start for a handful of teams (Buffalo, Seattle, Tennessee, Cleveland to name a few). But he chose to go back to San Diego. He knew in doing so that he was going to be the backup and has no problem with that. Philip Rivers, while not one of my favorites, is one of the 6 best QB's in the NFL! Charlie is looking good against 2nd team defenses. He looked good as the Seahawks starter for a few games. He could probably lead the Chargers to an 8-8 Season. But to suggest that he should potentially replace Rivers as the starter in San Diego shows how truly warped some of the people on here are when it comes to assessing former Clemson talent! We've had some really good NFL players, but we haven't had a ton of great ones.

Get off my back.

I simply suggested that he get a few reps witht eh first team. Did I suggest he was going to be the starter?

I know what CW is, and your assement is basically correct. But if there is an issue with rivers, it may be prudent to get CW involved a little more.

In reality Charlie has one of the best jobs in the NFL

He is smart. I think he could play anywhere in the NFL and wish he
still played at CU orange colored glass so be it.

The Chargers will never win anything as long as Rivers is

starting QB. He has been overrated his whole college and pro career. He has never won anything, has he even won a playoff game, I'm sure he has but I bet its not very many, maybe 2 or 3.

Seems Charlie took more of a beating versus Texas Tech

Aug 19, 2012, 10:46 AM

than his entire NFL career versus all the teams. Nice OL Bowden. Real nice

Phillip Rivers...4 pro bowls in 6 yrs...thrown for over 24000 yards in career... Thrown for more than 4600 yards in 2011...Over 4000 yards per season in last 5 yrs

Did all this while running for his life since Chargers have a terrible offensive line..Thats the facts!

Drew Bries-40742 yards, 6 pro bowls, 1 super bowl victory, 1 super bowl mvp. I stand by my statement.

Reread the OP... the debate is concerning the original post..not comparing Rivers to Bries
