The biggest travesty of FSU missing out speaks to why we love sports

The decision to put Bama ahead of FSU was puzzling at best, and a missed opportunity for why most all love sports. I was trying to think back t some of the most memorable moments in sports history that involved an either a player coming back from an injury or their team rallying around their absence to do something remarkable.

America loves an underdog and the human interest stories captivated us. Sports in general is littered with amazing stories of triumph over adversity I thought of a few examples but am sure there are many more so feel free to add to the list. I understand it's not quite apples to apples, but these are some examples that would have never happened with Boo Corrigan and his playoff committee in charge:

- The best example I can think of was Loyola Marymount advancing to the elite eight after Hank Gathers tragically passed away during their conference tournament. Bo Kimble shot the first free throw of each game left handed and the whole nation was pulling for them.

- Willis Reed leading the Knicks to the NBA title.

- Kurt Gibson in the "I don't believe what I just saw" home run in the World Series.

- closer to home, Cole Stout leading the Tigers to a dominating win over Oklahoma in Orlando. The shock value was huge for any tigers who made the trip.

- Chase Brice coming in for an injured Trevor to rally the troops against Syracuse.

- Maybe even Jordan and the flu game.

- Frank Reicht coming in for an injured Jim Kelly to lead the Bills the biggest comeback in NFL playoff history.

I can't stand Florida State or Norvell. Ducking out of the covid year game was bush league and maybe this is just a little karma. That said, there is just so much wrong with leaving the undefeated Noles out. They did everything within the rules to be awarded a chance, and it is a shame that we will always question the what ifs of the last 4-team playoff. the fact is that FSU deserves to be in the playoff. You can't rank them 4th one week then drop them after beating a top 15 team. It's pathetic, get out of the ACC. Of course FSU is a different team, but there are also different ways to win. Change the gamelan and FSU had chance against anyone.
